CAR Magazine's Best Hot Hatch Poll

Touch? sadly! Last decent ones were the 106 and 306 really. The current peugeot range is uninspiring to say the least.

Oh i still remember the 306 Race...with "just" 170 hp but the way it drove...
*sigh* memories...

The Coupe version was as big as an escort so it fits into the hot hatch group perfectly. And when I refer to Sierra cosworth I'm talking about this one:]

Yeah I apprecate that, I kinda guessed you where not talking about the Sapphire after all it is only 50% of a hot hach, but the original shares the same bodyshelll as the standard car. All this is besides the fact ins't a Escort Cosworth not a Sierra just with a Escort body?.

DELTA DELTA DELTA

Too true. I voted the 205, it's just brilliant.

If the Sierra would be added, then you would have to add other big puesdo-hatchbacks like the Mk2 Cavalier SRi. It is just far too big for that category, sorry

I also have a soft spot for one of these.

Shame it's not in the poll.

Yes it is! But the Escort was 4WD and the Sierra was RWD (the last RS with RWD if I'm not mistaken). So they can be seen as two completely different cars.

Civic Type R FTW

Just a proper ,fast , no non sense , agile rocket with a 8000 RPM redline :D

The Golf Gti was the FIRST hot hatch but i am not sure it is the BEST. I mean it was solidly smacked about in the EVO group test by both the 205GTi and the Megane Williams F1 and they were only testing FWD hot hatches in that one. Throw a Cosworth and Integrale into the mix i don't think it will hold up any better. I am not saying it isn't an iconic automobile but being first doesn't always make you the best

Wow no love for the starlet and no love for the omni glhs. The GLHS would probably beat all but the Escort Cossy and Delta Integrale too.

...and then slowly die. Who buys a Peugoet GTI these days?
I would have bought a 206gti if someone hadn't beaten me to it.

As far as the poll, the Golf GTI gets big props for creating the niche. But I think I'd rather have the old type-R.
Shame tuned models are out because, y'know, Autodelta.

you grossly overestimate the handling ability of the GLHS (and GLH) i am not saying it is total shit but having driven one let me tell you it wouldn't be my choice for AutoX. The KP61 on the other hand is made of fucking win and awesome and love.

VW Golf GTI Mk1.

That's the first and original, and propably the best hot-hatch of the century imho. You just have to give some credit to the grand daddy of all sport-gti-hatches. My second vote would go to the Integrale.

I surprised even myself and voted for the Alfasud. Simply becuase I have never seen one, and only the good die young.

Far and away the best hot hatch

:D:D

Just kidding. Pug 205 all the way, does the T16 count?

Golf GTi MK1, just because it is the first ever hot hatch, started the whole movement, is the perfection in sense of cheap car, little weight, powerful engine and awesome handling!
