Favourite movie?

Fight Club
The Thing (John Carpenter's 1982 remake)
Life is Beautiful (I rarely watch this, too damn depressing)
The Prestige
The Great Escape

There's five straight off the top of my head :p

no love for gangster films here...

My absolute favorite is BLOW:

Interestingly, it's based on a true story, which is thrilling and amazing at the same time.
I liked the whole rags-to riches-to jail-to riches-to jail-to rags story. My favorite bit is how they stash cash in a boat, saying "there's not enough space for the cash, I think we need a bigger boat" :D

other favorite movies of mine
- Cocaine Cowboys (documentary)
- Lock, stock and two smoking barrels
- Layer cake

best films i've ever seen...

Star Wars, without a doubt and always at the top of my list. These films have remained at the top of my list not because of how good they are or the special effects. These films have always managed to make me feel like a 5 year old while watching them. I'm a hardcore Star Wars fan because i really enjoy how the story sucks you in and how my Dad sat me down when i was younger, put me in front of a tv and said "trust me, you're going to enjoy this."
i don't care how many versions or releases George Lucas makes, if Star Wars keeps making me feel like i'm a 5 year old, i'll consider it money well spent.

Batman Begins, when the film had come out i had no intention of seeing it. Batman & Robin had effectively put the death sentence on any batman film to come along as far as i was concerned. Batman Begins was so completely different from the previous films in that it seemed to be grounded in reality. They made Gotham City feel like a actual city and what would happen if a billionaire decided that he wanted to become a vigilante. Christian Bale had done a difficult task in pulling off the character but what impressed me most about the film was how they kept to the mythology of the character and used comic books like Year One, The Boy who fell and numerous other Batman storylines. This is to me still the definitive comic book adaption.

Finally Master & Commander, this film i really enjoyed because it really has a British feel to it. I really enjoyed the side stories going on under the main plot line and although Russell Crowe may be a Aussie i he pulled off a British Captain really well. The Music, the ship, the battles everything about the film had my eyes glued to the screen. Even more so, while i'm not fully a flag waving patriotic nutter. the film had a kind of 'proud to be british' feel to it which made me appreciate it even more.

My current all time favourite is Terminator 2: Judgment Day; it's just the perfect action movie.

Others I like:

Leon The Professional
Scarface
Godfather I & II
The Dark Knight
Twelve Angry Men
Predator
Total Recall
The Terminator
The Sting

Plus, there are many others that I can't think of now...

holy shit... how did i forget Twelve Angry Men... i fucking LOVE that movie

Office Space.

Fifth Element
Jumanji
All the Harry Potter files - is that lame?
Clockwork Orange
Lock Stock. ...

I am sure that there are plenty of others. ...

I can't choose one as well, so I'll have to choose more:

Indiana Jones Trilogy (4rth one is mwhokay), my all time hero
LOTR Trilogy
Shawshank Redemption, absolutely brilliant
Apollo 13

Slumdog Millionaire
Stranger Than Fiction
Cloverfield
Hot Fuzz
28 Weeks Later (28 Days wasn't nearly as good)
Casino Royale
Son Of Rambow
Ocean Films (in this order: 11, 13, 12)
Transformers

Pretty much in that order (best at top). But they are all so close its hard to tell. And I think thats about it. Those are the only ones I can think of right now.

Just looked from IMDb which titles I've given a 10, three tv-series The Sopranos, The Wire and Band of Brothers. And movies Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, Heat and Requiem for a Dream.

I think people that have just one favorite movie has seen way too few movies...

2 great comedies and the finest piece of high-concept cinema ever made, you know, IMHO...
