Oh, you didn't say anything about order...
Snark aside, I understand the significance. Also, I googled it... so if I didn't really know, I do now.
I'm going to fire a (real) gun for the first time today. My roommate offered to take me to the shooting range.
Ooh, I'll relay that to him. However, for $35 I can get 5x as much .22 ammo, so .45 is looking to just be for special occasions. There are kits that allow the 1911 to fire .22 so you can get in lots of practice for cheap.
Also, Walmart has the cheapest .45 ammo, $35/100.
If we get toys for the 1911, they're going to be very nice. I'll actually get some pictures of it today, since I know you guys like gun porn. And yeah, the .22's can use cheap, light duty accessories. Basically, it can use the lasers, lights, and sights off toys like Airsofts and such because there's little recoil. Not so much on the .45.
Oh I forgot to tell you guys, I won my first medal a gold one, it was a group tournament, 3 people, 4 times shooting, after the third time we were in second place but we were really good the last time and those in first place were crap, so we won
Nice!
Dogbert, was caliber revolver were you firing? I've fired my friends medium frame .44 magnum revolver before...that was a freaking beast.
Anybody know what the energy comparison between .44 Mag and .50 action express? I have a feeling they are similar.
Congratulations!
Women should be encouraged to take up marksmanship as a hobby, IMHO. As you can testify, it's fun and women do well at it. (In fact, women have a better grasp of the spatial mechanics that are critical to marksmanship than men do, on average.)
Eh, got the basics there. They're out of order, though. Hang on a sec and I'll go recycle the one I wrote up for one of the older gun threads.
Edit: Okay, here you go:
You forgot rule #4. Know your target and what is behind it.
