Finally, a motorcycle that's not in pieces!

1997 Yamaha XJ600S Seca II, approx. 18,000 miles. I love it.

Drunk people need to stop knocking over my bike. :x As a result, here's what's next:

1. New brake lever coming in the mail.
2. New, slimmer turn signals.
3. Bike cover.
4. Some Napoleon mirrors, maybe. One of the bar ends was already broken off.
5. Rip the damn fairing off and do this.

Very nice. You planning on keeping that front fairing on it?

YES TO THE RIPPING OF THE FAIRING

Edit: Haha, winter.

Very nice looking bike! Man all these people getting newfangled standard bikes and turning them into naked bikes is making me want to give up my old beast for one.

<waits for stories of cascade relay failures>

I'm going to remove that damned ugly lower cowl tomorrow - the hideous black part that's been covered in Rhino-Liner, apparently. Maybe I'll get it blasted and painted and stick it on the CB550F (you know, my REAL motorcycle :D).

Hahaha.... I should post a Pythonic reply myself. :D

That looks great! :woot:

I can't believe I haven't posted these pictures from my epic 300-mile, two-day journey across the boondocks of upstate NY and the Mohawk Trail from Syracuse to Worcester:

1. The token "See kids? Your grandpa used to be cool, he owned a motorcycle!" shot. After day one and riding 6 hours across New York, ending at Taconic Trail State Park.
2. MRC knowledge really does come in handy. Turning off Rt. 2 towards central MA.
3. I think I did 90 at this point.
4. Almost home, stopped for lunch at some terrible country restaurant in West Boylston. The place was crowded, the food was slop I could make at home if I was drunk, and the service was apathetic at best.

Oh, and I'm never selling this thing.

Nice bike!

Definitely do the fairing modification, but otherwise I wouldn't mod it at all- it looks great the way it is.

So the standard bike looked pretty good. But eventually, I was tired of dealing with this:

As a result, I've decided to shove the Honda aside temporarily and embark on a whole new level of PROJECT BIKE HELL?.

I plan to install a single or dual headlight setup, chrome gauges, shorter bars and transform it into a budget streetfighter. My cost limit will be under $250, which is how much it would have cost to repair the fairing. I'll need to fabricate a bracket for the gauges and do a lot of headlight wiring, which should be fun. And this doesn't include the cost of repairing the engine.

I also plan to get the bodywork painted white which would contrast nicely with the frame.

And just to prove I'm serious on PROJECT BIKE HELL?, here's the pics of the initial teardown:

be sure your alternator can provide the power for another lamp

a friend did the same on his late nineties CB600, and each week he had to recharge his battery (end he ended up disconnecting one of the headlights --> which looks sooo stupid imo)

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to BlaRo again.

Damn, how else can I support the subliminal goatse messages!?!?!

:lmao: Goatse "O"....

Your parents must be very tolerant of your projects.

Quite a project you're gonna undertake there Blaro, but compared to work on the Honda, this should be a walk in the park The white/red paint scheme sounds interesting, but have you thought about painting it to match the cb550? That way you could have a matching Blaro-moto fleet!

Regardless, I'm pretty sure it will end of looking great!
Best of luck!

Funny enough, it matches the red of the CB550F right now, and that's precisely why I wanted to paint it. I wouldn't want two red bikes and drive a red car because it would be too boring.

And at this rate unless I pick up a cheapo dual setup from a wrecked Triumph Speed Triple, I'll probably go with the single headlight first.
