Awesome Thread

^Hmm, but it means whenever an aircraft carrier goes somewhere, there has to be a big convoy around it to make sure it stays safe...

Just seems so clumsy having to mobilize so many units as soon as the carrier needs to travel, but then I'm no military expert.

needing to have a bunch of other ships around isnt all bad. if they arent immediately needed for escort, they can be used for blockades, patrols, etc...

travelling in convoys increases the effectiveness of warshps as well, even without a carrier. in modern warfare, a lone wolf is a dead wolf, same reason they flew bombers in massive formations in WW2.

I just recently heard that apparently the Red Arrows were banned from the olympics for fear of being too British and intimidating to other countries.

WTF?

Gets a bit repetitive, but funny as hell.

It isn't true.

I believe they were considering it but good lord..

The Red Arrows are incredible and thoroughly British.. It'd be just like us to not have them fly..! *Feels like quoting my old post again* ...*Goes to watch videos anyway*..

I can't imagine how many OH&S forms the pilots have to fill out before they can even put on their flight gear :?

That?s what the C-130 support aircraft is for, not spares & whatnot for the aircraft,
but file cabinets full of Health & Safety risk assessments paperwork.

lol. I can so see that scene:

Soldier: Quick, we need supplies/reinforcements dropped off at our location.

C130 pilot: Have you filled out the forms yet?

*Cue Rocket propelled grenade explosion

Soldier: Do you think I have the FUCKEN TIME to fill out the forms!

C130 pilot: I'm sorry, that'll be a negative on the supply drop. You might want to fill in the form for firing a gun as well when you get back.

Seriously, I hate how they're pancy-fying the armed forces at the moment. Being in the military is inherently dangerous - GET USED TO IT!

That is brilliant, I love things like that so much! Imagine viewing that through a telescope and seeing things in more detail...
