Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

By the way, my ATF draining procedure didn't go all that well. I approached it in a typical Top Gear style of "How Hard Can it Be?"
So I sat on the pavement, ran all the tubes, put the empty bottles on the floor. Half-way through one of the bottles, the wind started blowing and all my empty bottles, napkins etc. starting flying about. In my eagerness to catch them, I jumped and sort of kicked the half-full bottle of old ATF...
Thankfully I was not doing it in my friend's garage, instead I was on a empty parking lot so nobody saw me :)
Sorry, Environment!

I accidentally knocked over a 1L bottle of turpentine today when cleaning tree sap from my *AHEM* double layered rear wing :D

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the Sierra is now painted, and back together apart from the bump strips on the doors, which I couldn't put on because my rivet gun broke :( Im going to make a bracket for the Hella lights tomorrow, might incorporate them to the stock grille of the car for a "winter look". Also picked up my studded tires, they have a lot of thread on all of them, but very few studs.. I wonder why..:p

EDIT: And the mudflaps are off! :)

why when i drive, i want a automatic, and when i see someone driving a manual i'm thankful i have one? could it be my hopelessness at trying to get the damn thing moving hmm, i wonder?

So you've never had a problem following the directions because they ignored your model? I don't think that counts as "never having a problem." :p

The V6 instructions were close enough for servicing the non-engine bits, and my motor was too hacked to hell with mods to bother with a manual anyway.

I saw a Honda NSX! White, early, reg no NSX-1. Looked amazing in the metal. Another sighting: a KTM X-Bow, Italian plates. Two dudes with helmets on.

No pics :/

That is too much awesome for a day. Go look at some pictures of a Prius.

^why do you want to ruin his day?

there is no such thing as too much awesome, this forum is a proof of it.

That's scary. You need to get all that stuff out of the garage and set it on fire or something, and park the Mustang inside where it's safe. :p

So I was minding my own business and ran across this blast from the past. I'm not sure if it is carbage or if it actually came from the factory with wood siding. Knowing Chrysler it is probably the latter.

Chrysler always keeping it classy.

Oooh! Limited edition!

someone on Wikipedia... said:
A special Town and Country convertible was also made from 1983 to 1986 limited quantities (1,105 total), which, like the wagon, featured simulated wood paneling that made it resemble the original 1940s Town and Country.

I?m sorry?! They didn?t even use REAL WOOD???:idiot:

Nope, because real wood panelling is a huge PITA to install and rots out relatively fast. In the old days this was possible because cars came with a lot of chrome moldings; to install a woodie kit, you simply removed the chrome bits and used the holes to install the wood. Not so much with more recent cars.

No, the "lattice" is actually molded and colored plastic and the 'panels' are basically vinyl shelf paper with a wood pattern.

Fucken hard work, but seeing it come together is strangely rewarding.
