Does anyone know if a solution exists for this issue?

Cutting five hours of footage manually is giving me buttcramps..Thanks in advance and an e-cookie for the one with a solution!

I use Premiere Pro BTW

Hmm. I know Pinnacle studio can do this, so I don't see why PP wouldn't. If 'my' copy of PP was working I'd be able to check for you. Hasn't worked for months unfortunately (activation).

Hmm, I tried a lot, PP doesnt seem to offer any in built scene detection features. Come on Adobe!!

Strange, it seems like that would be an obvious feature. Which version are you using?

Edit: How about VirtualDub? That will do scene detection.

Ahh, how I miss working with tape-based cameras... /sarcasm

But Hi Def? I don't think so... I am transferring tape based Hi Def footage... and for me Scene Detect is greyed out. I am using Premiere Pro CS4

Wait a sec - PP Pro does not create a new clip (or whatever it's called) automatically every time the tape was stopped and re-started?

Get Final Cut Pro.
