Clockwise starting from 11 o'clock: Chive shoots stirfried with red peppers and pork; julienned potatoes stirfried with scallions and tomatoes; a pork-meat sauce used for the noodles in the picture below; braised eggplant; broad beans stirfried with pork.

"Knife-shaved" noodles mixed with the above dishes, minus the eggplant.

THE best chicken soup in the world, plus yu hsiang pork which you then roll it up with some sliced scallions in the tofu skins like a spring roll.

Too much to name....lol I don't remember this meal a whole lot because I got really drunk. (The beer we were drinking was 9% and I had like 6 600ml bottles)

Chili braised crayfish tails. Literally half the dish was chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns. You had to really dig for your food, and after 20-30 tails, your mouth would be so numb that you can't taste anything anymore, such good stuff.

Spicy and sour noodles.

"Soup" noodles that I ate at home. Contained tomatoes, stirfried egg, tofu, pork, and greens.

Clockwise from 11 o'clock, pig stomach stirfried with scallions; stirfried spicy cabbage; Ma Po tofu; Ma La chicken.

Up close with the Ma La chicken. I can make this at home, but the flavors don't even come close to this version my aunt made.

Nanxiang Xiao Long Bao I had in Shanghai. These are the same ones that Anthony Bourdain had in the Shanghai episode of No Reservations. The only difference is that we had these at a different branch, but it is part of the same chain.

Trust me, this stuff is only about 40-50% of what I ate. A lot of the best stuff I had was on the streets and in tiny "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants. I couldn't take pics of those because lugging a huge DSLR around with me is just asking for people to rob me. God I wish I brought a point and shoot with me. Oh, and from the 3rd picture down to the sweet and sour fish was all at the restaurant owned by my mom's family. Free food FTW!

Oh yeah...

Oh my goodness! That bright red shellfish dish and I need to meet sometime. Preferably over dinner.

mmm Shanghainese food is probably the best type of Chinese food...followed closely by hong kong/canto food

Holy crap man... jesus that looks fantastic... i don't suppose you could go through and label what the dishes are because i gotta say i am dying to do some research for recipes.

Hey man, glad you like them. I went back and labeled everything I could remember so you have a general idea of what I had (some of the dishes names just don't translate to english well).

Oh, and I thought you should know this. I will be making the "pilgrimage" to Au Pied du Couchon in Montreal either next week or the week after .

Will take lots of pics :D

Knife-carved noodles = WIN
