The cars you learned to drive on

Cars: Mum's old Ford Fiesta 1.4 (1983). Next car was the MX5.

Bikes: Honda Cub first, then moved on to a Suzuki dirtbike (can't remember which, only used it because it had a clutch). Then a bunch of borrowed bikes, now my Yami.

A 2nd gen Renault Clio with the smallest Diesel engine ever at driving school and a 1st gen 1.6 Ford Focus when it was time to do "Accompanied Driving" with the parents.

my dads mr2, multivan and polo.. woo... and with the driving teacher a 2005 a4 avant

A white Golf IV 1.9 TDI.

No, wait.. not exactly like that.

A Volkswagen Golf V (2004 model), 2.0 TDI.

My conclusion was that Diesel cars weren't so bad after all. I changed my opinion after driving several cars without Diesel though. :p

1976 Datsun B210 (120Y for most of the world).

It had been my grandfather's until he passed on. AM radio only...and no a/c (which is quite something in Southern California).

That said, we kept it until...1988 or so, and it was still running strong. Okay, maybe "strong" is a bad term, since it wasn't particularly quick, but it was reliable.

My first driving experiences were in closed sandpits with a '93 Citroen Xantia :p

Most of my early driving was in one of these bad boys.

Jealous?

Then I got my license and drove this:

It was my dad's, but I did learn how a manual transmission worked through it.

And my first car was a lot like this (except silver, and rustier):

Between the three, and the driver instructor's Taurus and a big grain truck (FUN!), I eventually learned to drive.

I did some driving in my parents '93 Ford Aerostar:

Most of the learning was in the driver's ed cars which were current model year Fords donated by a local Ford dealer:

These pages remind me of a couple of odd or innapropriate cars I've seen with learner plates on including a Land Rover Discovery, a Subaru Impreza STi and Porsche Boxter. I also saw a BMW 120i being run by BSM (probably the biggest driving school in the UK). I think I'd be terrified of learning to drive in a brand new, 2 litre, rear wheel drive BMW.

I got my mom's 1994 Toyota Corolla, that was pretty much my transportation for high school.

Pretty boring car, but still light and a bit agile. Hated the color tough:
look like this, sold it 2 years ago:

now I drive my dad's 2000 toyota camry, but we put that for sale as well.

Car: 2002 Renault Clio 1.2

Bike: Honda Lead 100cc for my CBT and Yammy YBR 125 for my main test (my own).

First (not on road) was an 80's 4 cylinder 5 speed Cherokee. Rusted out floorboards, rear hatch didn't lock, didn't like going out of 4 wheel drive, etc...

First on the street was a 1992 Jeep Wrangler. 4.0, 5 speed. Fun little thing.

And for most of the time with my temps, I drove...

^Not that exactly, ours was Teal (my mom wanted one that color though...)
1994 F-350 Crew cab 4x4 with the 8" box. And the 7.3 Turbo-diesel, pre-Powerstroke (which was tired, truck had 180k on it when I started to drive it, if I recall correctly, the turbo was shot.)
