Tend do walk the 40 meters from my bed to lecture.
Most of the city's arrest forms have been computerized, but property and evidence vouchers printed on carbon-paper forms still require the use of typewriters.

Dot matrix printer - that is all.

When I saw the title on the main page it said

NYPD buys typewriters for $1

and I thought, 'well, that's a novel way of costcutting....I guess.'

Then I actually clicked the page

That's one way to keep them off Twitter.

Although this is interesting:

Dr. Edith Linn, a retired New York police officer and professor of criminal justice at the city's Berkeley College, said many of the 500 police officers she interviewed for a study told her the outdated equipment makes them less likely to perform arrests for minor offenses.

Good. Let's give them as many typewriters as we can; let's give them Tandy 1000s and IBM Port-A-Punch cards and fountain quills by candlelight while we're at it. :D

Hey, if it means fewer bullshit traffic citations and parking tickets then I'm all for it.

Hand out the hammers and chisels while you're at it.

I have just the thing for NYPD...
