Diecast Models

Guys, I'm having a hard time deciding which car to buy for my birthday. I always like to get one nice diecast for myself:cool: I like them all!

I'm looking at the Autoart Carrera GT in white(I hate the front plate though), Kyosho Boxster S dealer edition in GT silver($65), Autoart Land Rover Discovery 3 in silver(on sale), or the Kyosho Audi R8 in Suzuka Gray(expensive!).

I had been looking at the Autoart Reventon but the short supply combined with prices that I just can't justify spending I decided to not get one.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!

did a search for a thread on building model cars but couldn't find one. i'll post this here. picked this up yesterday on impulse and i'm trying to see if i can actually finish it (without painting it)

OM NOM NOM.

Hot engine is hot. The drivetrain, even in unpainted form is pure automotive art.

Meh...that engine doesn't do it for me.
I should post pics of the engine in my F50 model...it was amazingly detailed, and I didn't do a bad job of painting it either.

My one problem with building kits is the paining. I just can't do it. I love the building part, but hate the painting (probably because I'm bad at it).

Do they sell pre-painted build kits?

Some have prepainted body...but you still have to paint the small parts, which isn't such a bad thing.
My Countach kit came completely unpainted and I completely arsed up the paint. There are brush strokes everywhere.

Also glueing the windows is a bitch. You have to be really gentle with the glue and not allow it to spread anywhere outside the edges.

Why don't you use spray paint, e.g. for the bodywork?

I always enjoyed painting my WH40k models (uh oh, nerd outing!), but I guess a car would be a bit different.

I'm looking for a model of a 997 Carrera 2S... any suggestions? I'd like something that is very detailed, but under... let's say $70. Will be my first diecast model, but I want something I will have to put a lot of work into and will have to paint myself.
