List your favorite cars that aren't 'pretty' or 'good looking'

^ Those rear lights and narrow plate chamber on the A6 ruin the car's rear end. And the yellow side markers ruin the front. Apart from that, the A6 of that generation is really gorgeous. Classic simple Audi elegance.
Stupid US regulations...

Oh, and the Alfa 166 is probably the only car managing to be beautiful while having a sad face.

Wow..it looks like a Scout mated with a Series 1 Jaguar XJ. Sure stands out.

Ah, I see the resemblance. Never thought they were related. I loved that little truck too. It sucks they had to kill it and I think they could have used a little Datsun or one of those Mitsu trucks but then they would have never been able to pull of those scenes.

It's amazing what a grill insert can do to the appearance of a truck.

And who can forget the other SJ, a "one-of-a-class wagon" "synonymous with family travel at the highest plateau of elegance and practicality" with a "very un-wagonlike" ride?

Reading the 1986 Grand Wagoneer brochure is hilarious.

I know my Grandfather should have had one of those, but they didn't exist yet. He was known for taking the family station wagon up logging and mining roads to "explore." My dad and I did the same thing, but we live in the age of SUVs and affordable, comfortable 4WD vehicles.

The SUV revolution wasn't in the 90s as most people think. I think Americans have always wanted SUVs, but it took Jeep realizing it and building the vehicle we always wanted. In fact, the Cherokee was the first vehicle called an SUV.

OI!

Snip of old Jeep Pickup
Ah, the Gladiator front end. My favorite of all the ones they offered.
Here's its "big" brother.

*Note: Both are the same trucks, my dad did a different paint scheme every year.

Since were on the topic of trucks I've got to add the Dodge Ramcharger. I love those!

Maybe it was just the one I had to drive for a job way back when. It was horrible.

I don't mean to be a combo-breaker, but I just thought of one car that I like that may not be for all tastes - the 1977 - '78 AMC Matador Barcelona coupe; especially in the two-tone brown and tan like Mikey's car on American Chopper.

And getting back to trucks, the Morris J2. I had a Corgi toy version as a kid, and it always reminded a bit of a bulldog - short, rounded, with a pushed-in nose and a narrow track. The Transit may be a better van, but I think the J2 has a bit more character.

Personally, I don't like any car that isn't good looking in some way (for me, that is). It has to appeal to me visually for me to like it, just like ... women. Call me superficial or shallow, but it's the truth. :)

- VW Passat
- Ford Focus
- Subaru Impreza
- Porsche 911
- Lancia Delta Integrale
- BMW 6-series Coup?

Just to mention a few...

BMW 7-Series E65 - it may not be pretty, but if it's black with tinted windows, it instantly transforms the driver into Tony Soprano. Or a German polititian. Be careful with that one.

The truth is that most of the cars I like are not considered good-looking by the general public. However, I don't care what others think, I like the way they look! Here are some of them:

1976-1983 Renault 14: Quite a modern shape for 1976!
