How did you know that 5 min would give correct exposure?

I've gotten good with guessing exposures having used my 50/1.8 Series E a lot on my D40 (no metering).

But, also, I first took an exposure with the ISO cranked way up and the aperture wide open and calculated it from there.

The glow is from the sunset, ND grad and d-lighting, not raep.

Ice, I like the dog picture. It's just... "right", somehow (must spread more Jack Russels before blah blah blah...)
