Please, Strelok16, for the love of god, I beseech you: Change the pic of the BMW in the first post to one that is at least a halfway-decent representation.

I do a google image search and I get a huge influx of images and all of them are better than that one. What gigantoid bucket of shit did you have to reach to the bottom of to find that picture? Look how rough it is! Even the number plate is dented FFS.

Seriously, why have you done this? You're killin' me, here. You're killin' me.:p

I mean, have a look at this here:

See? That's why public just got some +rep.

...Anyway, I vote for the BMW.

I think my vote is clear on this one.
Even though I only have a bog-standard 635 and no M635... *sniff*

Yeah, Commons rocks when you have to scour the internets for a proper pic of a certain car.

For me it's simple, I'd have the 928. It's the way it makes the old BMW 6-series, and pretty much all of it's competitors at the time look painfully outdated in therms of performance, refiniement and design. Most of the reviews at the time concluded with this.

The 928 was supposed to replace the 911, so it was in many ways the best Porsche could do, no expenses spared, and it showed. The construction was a mixture of high strenght steel and aluminium where most stuff that wasn't stressed was made from aluminium, several of the body parts were polyuthurane. This made it unusually light for a car of it's type. The configuration is a front-mid layout with a rear transaxle for optimal weight distribution. The design was aerodynamically well ahead of it's time and remains a timeless beauty, as it was mostly unchanged throughout it's 18-year-long life.

This resulted in a fast and effortless GT-car. Although it was expensive when new, it's a serious bargain deal today, if you get one that's properly maintained.

^ That my good man, is what is called a VERY flattering picture.

The W126 coupe looks like a muscle car side-on.

It's hard to find that with a 928. It's suffering from the same condition as most modern cars; While it looks utterly gorgeous in real life, it tends to look ungainly in pictures.

That said, the thread starter found a really nice one too...

928. Fantastic car.

I wouldn't call these looks outdated.

The 928, from back when Porsche had real car designers (this is also why the 911 still looks good)

I love the looks of the W126 coupes. Even the fact that they're more impractical than my XJR (bigger in all external dimensions and even thirstier, while being a good deal slower and more expensive to maintain) doesn't stop my infatuation.

Cars like this don't help my problem either: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/1457427242.html

At first I figured it was a no-brainer, the M635CSi over anything. But THAT

is a VERY flattering picture of the 928, and it goes to show that the 90s and later facelifted 928s are a thing of beauty, almost moreso than the hopelessly boxy E24.

So, great. Now I have no idea. I voted E24 this time as it's always been one of my favorite cars, but tomorrow? Who knows?

Seriously? :p

Yeah I hate the lights on the Porsche and the proportions on the bimmer are weird, the windows are too large and that strange front grill makes me think rediculous amounts of drag... I dunno they just don't do it for me, which is weird because I love old Benzes.

Your username made me think of the Strosek Porsches, which in the 928:s case looked like this:

Strosek should not be confused with the bleak-fest that is Stroszek:

That Strosek actually looks pretty good apart from the doors..

It wouldn't have been a bad design idea to smooth over the headlights completely, and just modify the lights in the bumper to do their job.
