On Dec 18th 2009 they start driving 4500 miles in three weeks to Timbuktu as part of the Plymouth Dakar Rally. To raise funds for Turning Point - as well as the charities the rally supports.

The rally has a few rules;
1) The car must cost no more than ?100
2) Spend no more than ?15 on rally preparation
3) Hand the car over to the Rotary Club in Bamako for auction
4) All rules can be broken (except rule 3)

I'd just buy 100 Volvo 740s and a set of used 15quid off-road tires. Thats 450 miles per car, and I'll be good.

But you probably need to have a trailer/support truck of food.
