Not really. They are both 4.6 DOHC engines. Ford's made 305hp in 1996 in the SVT Cobra.
 
Yeah, because what a 4x4 needs is a highly strung, high revving performance engine.
 
The whole performance per displacement thing is crap. Displacement only matters because of taxation rules.

They could have at least used the Tundra's engine....
 
I don't really see anything wrong with the power output of the engine, as the Mercedes S450 only makes about 335hp and 339 lbs ft of torque with premium gas. The LX570 uses the Tundra engine. I suspect that there would be too much of a product overlap if they used the 5.7L from the Tundra. However, the 4.6L V8 is one of the engines that are available in the Tundra.

I sold so many LR3s to people looking at GXs or LXs/LCs back a few years ago. I can only think of about three people who cross shopped a LR3 with one of those SUVs that didn't buy the LR3.
