Windows 7, so who's tried it?

If you think all that's neat try this: when doing something that produces a progress bar in Windows Explorer (i.e. transferring a large amount of files) minimize the progress bar that pops up and have a look at the taskbar.

My only problem with 7 'till now is that Firefox lags quite a bit when I browse applet intensive sites.

Just upgraded to 7 today.

Me like :)

Aaah, much better. Removed all the useless gunk from the Explorer.

To share with other people, here are the ways to do it:

Removing libraries:
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/...and-remove-libraries-from-windows-7-explorer/

Just dl the .reg and run, then reboot. Remember to delete all the libraries before you start.
Removing favorites:
Removing HomeGroup:
Make sure that you have all the security and homegroup services running. Now right-click the Homegroup icon in the Explorer and go to the advanced settings and click "Leave homegroup".

After that go to Services and disable both Homegroup (Provider/Listener) services.

why are you still running a floppy drive?

Cos I got it years and years and years ago and cba taking it out. :p

Intel SSD + floppy in the same computer ftw!

^because he's OLDSKOOL YO.

I'm more curious why you would want/need 7 partitions

That's oldskool

I installed it two months ago and hated it. :p XP and Vista were just so much better. Now, though, with RTM out and quite a lot of resources available for customization I'm starting to like it better than any of its predecessors. Default Aero still looks rubbish I think so it's modded to suit my tastes. :p

*Removing libraries link*

Thanks for that, I hate the libraries because I can find no use for them whatsoever and I don't want them when I open Explorer.

I like windows 7, but since upgrading a month or two ago some flash videos in firefox cause my internet to stop working! Using the troubleshoot feature fixes it every time, but its still annoying. Has anyone else had this issue?

I did, updating my WLAN drivers fixed it. :) No clue why... :S

I had the Windows 7 beta on my netbook but I went back to XP since 7 couldn't handle HD videos on the Atom.

Yesterday I found out Asus have actually released a new BIOS update for Windows 7 and now everything works including 720p videos (including a certain British motoring programme!). It's bliss, and a nice feeling to get a new officially-supported OS after skipping over Vista, doesn't happen too often.

Isn't it great when once in a blue moon manufacturers actually support a product after they sell it to you? Go Asus.

^ Where the bloody hell have you been?

Good to see you around mate :)

Oh you know, been around.

I would make a thread about my absence but I don't want it to look like I just went away to attention whore... that's precisely my reasoning, but I wouldn't want it to look that way.
