The "New Toys" Thread

Well, I decided to buy a new T.V. to replace my CRT. I decided it would be a good time to update my main system. And at the same time why not build an HTPC and a HI-Def receiver. And some of it showed up today. I can't wait to get the rest and put it all together.

I have the CPU, MOBO, RAM, and HSF from the old computer.

How are you finding the screen? My Antec case has the same one and I'm finding it a bit temperamental. It is far too bright to stay on full time but it is inconsistent trying to get it to turn off when the HTPC is sleeping.

I don't know, I have yet to get it. Still in transit. :(

How does the remote work, is it any good?
 
I don't use the remote that came with the case, I use the one that came with my TV tuner.

As much as it costs, I expected the G11's low light pics to better than ones from my G1's camera...
 
Here's some stuff I got Tuesday, for a PC I'm building, I posted the monitor months ago. Got this stuff now:

The white box has a 640GB Caviar Black drive in it.

All that's left is the mobo and processor. Which I will get soon.

Got my first real smartphone today. (And it's already got a protective film and some dust all over it).

I love it. Keyboard isn't bad, really. The screen is amazing (and autodimming based on ambient light), the interface is good, features are blowing me away, not a lick of trouble with it.

My friends and I were playing with it at a restaurant earlier, the voice recognition accurately Googled "Jesus Christ riding a bicycle on top of a unicycle on top of Mt. Everest" the first time my friend just started rambling to it. We also accidentally discovered you can shoot a video and upload it directly to youtube from the youtube application.

I haven't tried out the camera much yet though, but a few test pictures showed its not bad, certainly better than my old phones 2MP.

I've been waiting for over a month now for a 5850. But as MW2 runs smoothly on my current system, I guess I'll ebay it off once I get it. For a profit off course...
 
boo @ you peoples with 40"+ TVs. I was in the store today and the amount of WANT was off the scale for one.
Also 50" Tvs are ludicrously large, so big infact that I can't put it anywhere. Still WANT one

I know how it feels. I spent the last few years drooling at every HDTV I seen. Partly because they were expensive but also because I couldn't make up my mind on which I wanted to get. Plasma or LCD? I finally pulled the trigger a few days ago and bought a 46" plasma. It's a Panasonic TC-P46U1 and I love it!!!

It was only $698 at Walmart!

Ooh, thanks for reminding me, I gotta get Wall-E in HD. My WD Passport is ready to be picked up, too, so I can finally watch all these HD movies I've accumulated properly.
