It is a developing country, but just the country has a very distinct upper and lower class, and an almost non-existent middle class. The fact is that most of the population is in the lower class, but yet there's also a huge chunk of the population in the upper class. When we're talking upper class, we mean the rich guys, having money to buy nice cars, and some even have one or a few private jets. And when we're talking about lower class, we refer to those living in houses passed down for generations, living in a far-out village, earning enough to only renovate their house once in 30 or so years, only owning one or two motorbikes per family unit of the household.
So if you're at Beijing or any major city, you'll see lots of Bentleys and luxury cars, because that's where most of the richer people stay, where the standards of living are much much higher. Also to note, there's a huge difference in the ratio of supercars to luxury cars compared to other countries (i.e. Singapore), because China has poor roads, so their use is hugely limited. And also, many of the rich people prefer to spend their wealth overseas, so as to not arouse interest of the bad people to their money, since kidnap/robbery cases are plenty amongst the rich.
