Walter R?hrl at the next N?rburgring 24h

only to end in tears before the first half of the race. Actually at the last race it didn?t end in tears, it didn?t even start. Even Team Schrick got farther than their weird little R8 project.
Perhaps that's the reason they take a stock road car this time... to avoid their usual reliability issues. ;)

^^AWESOME

Porsche is smart for picking 2 magazine editors/writers to co pilot though, since that means their efforts will definitely be covered extensively.

Given the history of the sport auto attempts it's highly unlikely they will cross the finish line... ;)

true, but i highly doubt that that the gt3 rs would have been able to take the overall win...class maybe. its more for publicity i feel like.

Of course there won?t be an overall win. And there won?t be a class win either, because there is no proper class for this car so it?ll probably be running in SP7 where most of the cars that compete for overall win come from...

The point is that I?d love to watch Walter piss everyone off by breathing down their necks with an inferior car. Don?t get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for automotive journalists if they?re good at what they do. But you simply don?t pair up a journalist with the ring god himself.

It's mostly a 'media stunt' anyway, no?

I'd like to see Nissan do the same thing with a stock GT-R...

With so many RSRs retiring and being replaced by GT3-Rs, Audi bringing even more R8 LMS this year, BMW getting serious, and the balance of performance restrictions traditionally being more severe in SP7/8, I think SP9 (GT3 Homologation) will be the one to watch this year.

Walter is my childhood hero and I can't wait to see him drive.

Just replace him with the Stig and some of his cousins, or with any actual racecar driver for that matter. I think the majority of the ring specialists wouldn?t mind sharing a car with him. But oh well, I guess it?s Horst and the rest of his clown squad then...

that is very unlikely. As far as I know sportauto likes their hands everywhere. Horst knows all the potential marketing slots and he is gonna use every one of them to the max. Similar thing happened when they built an e36 drift car and got on of their auto test guys to drive it in the pro class of IDS.

Well that would at least be inmensely funny...

This is the 2nd time this came up, and the fanboys are nowhere to be seen...

What an unlikely pairing of drivers...
But still: Horst is perfect for a 24h race, I guess, since he might not be THE fastest driver, but he should be very consistent and crashfree...

Harris has done quite a bit of 24 hour races at Silverstone and the Ring, so he can't be that bad?

Harris is a bloody awesome driver. You won't need to worry about his performance credentials.
