Vista/Nvidia low resolution after gaming

So for some reason this happens when I'm playing warcraft 3 or GTA: San Andreas on my comp.

I have both games set to my native monitor res of 1920x1200.

But once I play and then exit the games, the resolution of vista drops to 800x600.

I found somewhere that you can change it back with the Nvidia control panel and I had success the first time this happened.

But then when I played San Andreas again, it wouldn't let me switch to 1920x1200. Or rather, it claimed that it had changed to 1920x1200, but the resolution was actually still at 800x600.

Wtf is going on and htf can i fix this?

If you haven't already, get the latest drivers available for your card. Does this happen for all 3D/fullscreen games, or just those two?

It has happened, although very rarely, with Left4Dead.

It hasn't happened with TF2 and L4D2.

Generally it's more older games I suspect. In any case I'm downloading the new drivers. Mine were from September 2009

Yeah it's weird how much of a difference drivers can make. You'd think they'd have cracked it by now.
