I have story about a dumb pilot.
One day I'm out at the drag strip getting ready for a private test session for some Junior Dragsters. I was in the tower hooking up the timing system when I hear what I thought was one of the cars fire up. It got loud enough that I realized it wasn't a single cylinder Junior. I look out the window (about 15 feet off the ground) and see a small airplane fly past. As I watch him I realize he's trying to land on the track. The unfortunate thing is there is a 220v line that goes across the track near the 1000' mark (it's about 12 feet above the track), he sees it just in time to pull up and avoid getting the plane wrapped up in it. He sets it down just past the 1/4 mile and comes taxiing up the return road.
When we get to him it's older gentleman that seems a little off. He is asking if he is in Eldorado Springs (which is about 70 miles away) and that he had just left Joplin (15 miles away). We explain to him that he isn't anywhere near where he wants to be. He then wants to buy some duct tape, because he clipped a tree on the return road and has a hole in the wing that needs patched.
He then starts asking about getting back out of here (which at this point we really wanted him out of our hair so we could get back to what we where doing). We tell him not to come back up the track towards the starting line. Of course when he leaves he does exactly what we told him not to and taxis towards the starting line, turns around at the 1000' mark and swings the tail into the guardrail. Before we can stop him he brings the engine up and takes off, never to be heard from again.
After he left dad called the Joplin airport and told them about the guy and how confused he seemed. As far as we know nothing ever happened.
