The Android thread

Has anyone here got the Nexus One? I am thinking about getting that since my 2G iphone is kind of dying. The thing is though that the Hero is a bit cheaper, 370 vs 490, but the Hero also seems to be very much behind. Any thoughts? Ordering the Nexus one will be a bit of a hassle as well ie need to have it shipped to the UK first.

I would buy the nexus any day!

Why sould you buy the Hero?
+ Sense UI.

Why souldyou buy the Nexus?
+ Better screen.
+ A LOT better processer.
+ Android 2.1 (will come for the Hero in mid march).
+ A more sturdy design.
+ It's the google phone and it's not connected to any brand so it will properly get the updates right away.

:)

Well the HTC Legend is coming and it's going to be very similar to the Hero so why not wait it out for that; from the looks of it, it's pretty damn close to release; and it's going to save you a pretty penny too!.

I've watched a few videos of the Nexus this week and if it's still around when my upgrade period arrives I might be tempted. I've gone off the HD2 slightly after I had a play with one at work.

3G's been fixed, reception is the carrier's fault. ;)

While I hate to say it, it's a hardware/firmware issue, not a T-mobile issue. I have a G1 on their network and if there's 3G it doesn't switch back a forth like the N1 does. Until they address it correctly I won't get one. Dunoo how it would work in Yurop tho. Here's a vid of the N1 after the supposed 3G fix:

it's been 3 weeks and I'm still battling to choose between the N900, HD2, Nexus One or wait for the upcoming N8 with Symbian 3.... : (

I would say that too. Any day :)

Not sure, I heard the software support is rather poor. And besides, your phone does look quite nice, which is tempting me to try out the Android OS.

Well next time we get together you're more than welcome to play with it...

wow that sounded quite gay.

I've used the Nexus one and I can definitely say it's FAR faster, I can't say I noticed much of a difference between 2.0 and my Hero's 1.5 but the hardware is far better with the Nexus. When sprint gets another android phone that is far faster I'll be upgraded after they come down in price.

Can't wait to see the HTC Legend and HTC Bravo that sould be annouced tomorrow :)

I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE I WANT MORE!!!

Wiki doesn't have an article about the Legend yet, but the Bravo has the same screen as the Nexus One (3.7" Amoled @ 800x480) with the Snapdragon processor, enabling it to record and playback video @ 720p and since it's running Sense, that already makes it better than the Nexus One.

I think we can call the desire/Bravo the ultimate phone for now (;

I'm not so sure about that, with Dell's Intel phone just around the corner, Nokia's N8 with Symbian 3, and Samsung's Wave (which has Bluetooth 3.0 & 720p record).

I think I'm gonna wait until Late March (my bday) or early April before I make the decision of dropping all my money on a flagship phone.

I've watched a few videos of the Nexus this week and if it's still around when my upgrade period arrives I might be tempted. I've gone off the HD2 slightly after I had a play with one at work.

May I ask the reason why you shied away from the HD2?

the N900 seems appealing... :dunno:

I've had the pleasure of trying an N900. I loved it, but unless you're willing to get down and dirty modding/hacking it then its not really a consumer phone per se.
