The queens are from RuPaul's Drag Race. It's on Logo. I can't get enough of it. :D
 
Just turn on your Super Zoom utility.
 
^ Actually, "Taken" is one movie I seen in recent years where they've actually made an half an effort to appear realistic, in terms of computers. When he goes to the photo kiosk, zooms in a little bit and "enhances" (which is Hollywood lingo for "unsharp mask"), it's far from crystal clear and completely plausible.

Also, "the right combination of algorithms" :lol:

There is such a thing as super resolution, but it requires compositing multiple frames of a video into a higher resolution stills image.
 
The problem is that 99% of the time the base image is from a crappy webcam that was re-purposed to be a security camera.
 
My favorite is when they have a digital scan of an old newspaper photo and can somehow "enhance" it.
