COD: Modern Warfare 2

Seriously, please, please play properly..

The grenade thing, doesn't matter, but there's nothing more irritating than some guy running around killing both himself and other with rockets all the time.

I enjoy MW2, but the thing I dislike the most about it, is not the glitches and faults.. It's just the general attitude towards how you should play the game. It's either "Let's lay down in a dark corner and wait all game for someone to walk by", or the above...
The laying around in dark corners completely drains the game of any pace. And the rocket thing completely drains the game of any skill.

Nigga please. I don't do that. I said I'm not ascared of accidentally killing myself with a rocket occasionally, I don't run around firing rockets at my feet hoping to jihad myself. And I only last stand suicide when I get killed by snipetards and camers. Fuck, I never even use the noob tube. All that, and I got a 41-4 the other night playing not like a fucktard.

Campers are faggots, that's why I never play hardcore, it's just a giant campfest. America's Army players are aggressive and actually move, and you don't respawn in AA. COD hardcore players can suck my dick because 80% of them do nothing but camp.

But, whatever. A couple weeks until BFBC2 is out and I can stop playing MW2. (I got bored of the beta, one map can only last for so long)

If you get camped in hardcore then you're just plain terrible.

What do you expect ppl to do? jump out with noob tube as if it's a TDM? It's hardcore, you expect ppl to camp.

Heartbeat sensor, thermal, common sense, team play & extensive knowledge of the map should help you kill campers like there is no tomorrow.

Bridge is the stupidest level ever. It's also the favourite of people who can do nothing but camp. I guess the level of camping depends on the map, but given similar skill levels it's aggressive teams who win most of the time. Then again, wide open maps are stupid and people who can aim precisely at a single pixel win. CQB FTW. Camping in CQB is useless, especially since everyone camps at the same spots. Dude, check out my SOPMOD, it's so tacticool.

Aaaanyways, hardcore in COD is stupid because no matter how "realistic" you make the damage, the game mechanics will always be straight up arcade. Full auto kills from a mile away, one pull of the trigger, empty the mag, get two kills. Dolphin dive whenever you run into an enemy, keep shooting the whole time. Run like Usain Bolt and stab someone from five metres away. Pure arcade gameplay. And hardcore tdm is tdm, brah.

i did my time with AA. i enjoyed doing the bootcamp missions more than the actual online multiplayer.

Also. Scavenger+danger close+RPG = hilarity ensues

also also, Riot Shield with throwing knife and akimbo maguams is atrosiously fun

For some reason I'm attracted to riot shielders like a moth to light. Even if I don't have any semtex I still run up to them and try to knife them in the side. With a riot shield all I do is die.

the riot shield is precisely why i always carry semtex. idiots just start charging at me and i just stick them and run past them. gets the every time.

So I hate this thread for the fact that I hate what IW/Activision did to one of the best PC multiplayer shooters of all time. But I had to post this.

Jason West and Vince Zampella, two lead developers at Infinity Ward, met with Activision earlier today. Then they seemed to disappear and "bouncer-types" showed up at the studio. This Activision filing might explain why.

"The Company is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward," Acitivsion states in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. "This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation. At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company."

Activision also adds that it will be releasing another Call of Duty game this year. That game is believed to be developed Treyarch.

According to West's Facebook and Linked In pages, he is currently no longer working for Infinity Ward.

http://kotaku.com/5483348/report-st...finity-ward-president-ousted?skyline=true&s=i

Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward is now home to a very strange, currently very unclear story, as G4 reports that security guards have stormed the developer, with studio heads currently missing in action.

While that all sounds like scary stuff, there's very little in the way of actual detail here. Infinity Ward leads Vince Zampella and Jason West are reported to have met with Activision earlier today, but have not been seen since by G4's sources. The original report describes a rumored level of tension between Infinity Ward and its owner/publisher, but does not explain the source of that friction.

Look, we don't know what's up yet, but we've reached out to Activision PR and Infinity Ward's main communicator Robert Bowling for comment on G4's report. The latter has been uncharacteristically quiet on his Twitter account today, if that means anything.

We're well aware by now that Activision isn't shy about bringing the hammer down on its owned development studios, with Infinity Ward's Call of Duty games still bringing in the billions, we can't imagine why Bobby Kotick and company would be so displeased with its star studio. Put your rumor protective gear on until we hear more.

Update: And now things are stranger. Kotaku commenter VasectomyOmega dropped the following into the discussion below.

That's supposedly from Modern Warfare 2 game director and Infinity Ward president Jason West's Facebook page. We're trying to verify.

West's LinkedIn profile indicates he is no longer working at Infinity Ward as of March 2010. Could Infinity Ward's top brass been given the heave ho?

Now I hope this is true. Why? Because both parties in this made it so the game sucks absolute balls on the PC. How is it that the game has LESS players and options than the games in the series that were released SEVEN years ago.

and then you can't get back in because your friends were kicked out too so there's no way of rejoining the place you were just in.

This doesn't sound like people getting fired for doing a bad job. It sounds like people being fired for stepping out of Activision's line. "Insubordination" and "litigation" and "breaches of contract" sound like someone trying to work against Activision.

Perhaps they felt dirty after creating the crippled game that is MW2 and tried to do something about it?

Activision Sued by Sacked ?Call of Duty? Creators

March 4 (Bloomberg) -- Activision Blizzard Inc. was sued by the executives who created the ?Call of Duty? video-game franchise over claims the company used ?false? insubordination charges to fire them and avoid paying royalties.

Jason West and Vince Zampella, who co-founded Activision?s Infinity Ward studio, sued the company in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday, claiming breach of contract and wrongful termination. They seek at least $36 million and control over ?Modern Warfare,? a subset of the ?Call of Duty? combat games, according to a copy of the complaint.

Activision, the world?s largest video-game publisher, conducted a ?pretextual? investigation to fire the Infinity Ward co-heads and avoid making a royalty payment due on March 31, according to the complaint.

?Activision terminated their employment weeks before they were to be paid substantial royalty payments as part of their existing contracts for ?Modern Warfare 2,?? West and Zampella?s lawyers at O?Melveny & Myers LLP wrote in a statement.

Maryanne Lataif, a spokeswoman for Santa Monica, California-based Activision Blizzard, called the complaint ?meritless.? She said Activision owns the ?Call of Duty? franchise and will continue making new versions.

?Activision shareholders provided these executives with the capital they needed to start Infinity Ward, as well as the financial support, resources and creative independence that helped them flourish and achieve enormous professional success and personal wealth,? Lataif said in an e-mailed statement.

?Call of Duty? Unit

Activision said in a March 1 regulatory filing that two senior executives who led ?Modern Warfare? were leaving and said it was investigating insubordination and breach of contract.

The company said on March 2 that it formed a new unit to run the ?Call of Duty? franchise, naming Philip Earl to lead the unit.

West and Zampella oversaw creation of the World War II video-game ?Call of Duty? and ?Modern Warfare? sequels set in later periods. ?Call of Duty? titles have generated about $3 billion in revenue, Activision said in its 2009 annual filing.

Activision?s top three titles, ?Call of Duty,? ?Guitar Hero? and ?World of Warcraft,? accounted for 68 percent of Activision Blizzard?s $4.3 billion in revenue last year, it said in the filing.

Activision rose 6 cents to $11.03 at 4 p.m. New York time in Nasdaq Stock Market trading. The shares have declined less than 1 percent this year.

The case is Jason West and Vince Zampella v. Activision Publishing Inc., SC 10741, Los Angeles Superior Court, California.

Sounds like Activision didn't want to pay them what was due and threw them out. I'm definitely rooting for these guys, and now I'm convinced Activision is completely to blame for screwing gamers over with MW2.

EDIT: Even more!

Infinity Ward's West and Zampella Reveal Their Grievances

Ousted Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West have remained silent since their unceremonious dismissal on Monday. However, the duo's lawsuit against Activision, filed yesterday afternoon with the California Superior Court, speaks volumes.

The 16-page legal document, obtained by Kotaku, is short on legal jargon and long on lucid accusations. Zampella and West, represented by a legal team from the law firm of O'Melveny & Myers LLP, accuse Activision of "unbridled greed" and "Orwellian tactics."

The plaintiffs' case largely rests upon a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a formal alternative to a handshake agreement but not necessarily a binding contract. Zampella and West say they signed an MOU with Activision on March 31, 2008 and agreed to work for Activision for three more years and deliver Modern Warfare 2 by November 15, 2009. The MOU allegedly granted:
1. West and Zampella creative authority over the development of any games under the Modern Warfare brand or any Call of Duty title set in the post-Vietnam era, the near future, or the distant future.

2. Complete control over the Infinity Ward studio.

3. The right to choose to develop new intellectual properties after completing Modern Warfare 2.

4. Standard bonus and royalty compensation for Modern Warfare 2 as well as additional compensation, including a pool of Restricted Stock Units, stock options, a royalty for any Call of Duty game sold, a technology royalty for any Activision game using the Infinity Ward created CoD game engine, and rewards for Infinity Ward employees.

Zampella and West allege they held up their end of the MOU, delivering Modern Warfare 2 five days early. Immediately after the game was delivered, Zampella and West say Activision began to renege on its promises:

This lawsuit is solely and regrettably the result of the astonishing arrogance and unbridled greed of defendant Activision. Plaintiffs Jason West and Vince Zampella are among the most talented and successful videogame developers in the world. They created for Activision two videogame franchises, Call of Duty and Modern Warfare, that became the most successful in the company's--indeed, the industry's--history, lining Activisions pockets with billions of dollars in revenue and creating a die-hard fan base in the millions.

Just weeks before Messrs. West and Zampella were to receive the royalties for their hard work on Modern Warfare 2, Activision fired them in the hope that by doing so, it could avoid paying them what they had rightfully earned, and to seize control of the Infinity Ward Studio, to which Activision had previously granted creative control over all Modern Warfare branded games and had, apparently, decided it no longer wanted to live with.

The complaint alleges that Activision launched an investigation against the studio heads on February 3, stating, "From the very beginning, it was clear that the purpose of the investigation was not to uncover any facts concerning any actual wrongdoing, but to manufacture a basis to fire West and Zampella." Activision refused to reveal what specific acts were being investigated, the pair state, instead being told they "already have a clear understanding of what they have or have not done."

Activision's investigation allegedly included a six-hour interrogation of West and Zampella in a windowless conference room. The plaintiffs state numerous Infinity Ward employees were also questioned and some even brought to tears during the interrogation. When West and Zampella refused to turn over their personal computers and cell phones, Activision's attorneys allegedly stated the pair was being insubordinate.

West and Zempella's complaint then states the studio heads were summoned "to a sham meeting" at Activision's Santa Monica headquarters "during which they were fired on the basis of false and trivial charges, and then quickly escorted out the back door." The pair stated Activision refused to confirm that it would make the payments for Modern Warfare 2 agreed upon in the MOU.

Activision has adopted the corporate strategy of forcing Messrs. West and Zampella to sue for their pay -- in the hopes of either getting away with not having to pay them anything, or maximizing its leverage to reduce that pay. Such actions are not surprising, given that Activision is run by a CEO who has been publicly quoted as believing that the best way to run a videogame studio is to engender a culture of "skepticism, pessimis, and fear," and who prefers to pay his lawyers instead of his employees.

In closing, the complaint states West and Zampella were terminated in bad faith and without proper cause. Activision refuses to pay compensation owed and refuses to recognize Infinity Ward's rights to exercise creative and other contractually-gained control over the Modern Warfare brand. The developers are seeking damages "to be determined in court" but in excess of $36 million.

Fuck Activision.

personally, i hope those two win the lawsuit, so they regain the rights to the modern warfare IP. Then they could go and open a new studio and create Modern Warfare 3, free of Activisions control.

I don't know how they could possibly not win if this reaches court. They were owed royalties, Activision just happens to fires them one month before they are to recieve a lot of money, they don't get their royalties. I hope it does get to court and that they get much more than what they would have recieved

wowowow :woot: I have no idea how he did that but that was super slick.

38 IW employees are now suing Activision for withholding royalties with the purpose of forcing them to stay and work on MW3.

First it was former Infinity Ward bosses and Call of Duty creators Jason West and Vince Zampella. In March, the pair filed a lawsuit against Activision, accusing the publisher of unbridled greed. Today, it's 38 Infinity Ward employees. Activision is being sued by a troop calling themselves the Infinity Ward Employee Group, an assemblage alleging breach of contract, breach of good faith, and unpaid royalties.

G4TV broke the news this afternoon, obtaining a copy of the lawsuit filed today with the Los Angeles Superior Court.

"Activision owes my clients approximately $75 million to $125 million dollars," Bruce Issacs, the attorney representing the group, told G4TV. "Activision has withheld most of the money to force many of my people to stay, some against their will, so that they would finish the delivery of Modern Warfare 3. That is not what they wanted to do. Many of them. My clients are entitled to their money. Activision has no right to withhold their money."

According to the lawsuit, Activision has delivered roughly $28 million in bonuses related to Modern Warfare 2. But the Infinity Ward Employee Group allege they are still owed more than $54 million, and that doesn't include any profits the game generated in 2010. The group is seeking its $54 million as well as compensatory damages that could cost Activision as much as $500 million.

"In short Activision withheld the property of the Infinity Ward Employee Group in an attempt to keep the employees hostage so that Activision could reap the benefit of the completion of Modern Warfare 3," the lawsuit states.

greedy motherfuckers.

Cant wait till a plane full of Actvision execs crashes into a fucking mountain.

Activision doesn't fly, they have their own private subteranian train system. What else do you think they do with the money they steal from their employees?
