Leaked! Porsche 911 GT2 RS coming this September

An excellent spy video of the GT2 RS:

620 hp is A LOT for a rear-engined rwd car. They should do a special key like the Veyron has for turning the traction control off.

Oh, and Stefan Roser should be on the drivers list as well (he's the one who drove the Ruf CTR1 around the Nordschleife in that famous video. Under 8 min in 1988 in traffic.

There?s really quite a substantial amount of people capable of driving cars like this really fast without dying, it?s just that there is an infinitely higher number of people who are not.

I wonder if they'll offer it with some form of sequential gearbox (PDK or just a sequential dog box).

Steve

If you listen very carefully near the end of the youtube video (two posts above) then I think that sounds like some very short gear changes for being a manual so I believe it's PDK.

I am starting to LIKE Porsches...they must be doing something right.

Yeah, it sounds very PDK-ish. But then again, it didn't seem 60ms fast, so maybe it's just a racing driver really hammering it.

That thing is racecar fast.

PDK is a lot faster than 60ms :p

EDIT: You can actually hear the exhaust go 'pop' when it changes up, it's def a trick gearbox.

That looks and sounds very sticky on the video. Neat.

I think there'll be plenty of drivers who can handle this, basically anyone whose mastered a turbocharged motorsports derivative of any 911. For instance, 935s had more than 700 hp in race trim, and anything up to 900 hp in qualifying. So; big power, turbocharged, lightweight, rwd 911s are nothing new. Also, after market specialists have been offering 600++ hp 911s for many years, many of which have got good remarks for their relative user friendlyness; The Ruf RT-12 and the Tech Art GT-Street springs to mind. If anything, this being a factory offering, it will almost certainly be even more civilized than the various after market offerings.

The base 997 GT2 has been described as a very user friendly car, especially compared with it's predecessors. EVO came to the conclusion that it absolutely did not live up to it's widow-maker reputation.

Wow at that video!! Does it have a magnet under the car? And what have they done to the engine. It sounds so untamed and it does not have the usual sound of the Porsche flat 6.

Looking good, but why the red steering wheel?

You'll need balls of granite to drive this thing fast. Because it will be mostly composed of:

So to find out what it's like we just watch Clarkson's review of the GT2 in speed x1.4?
