Shallow DOF and long exposure doesn't mean the image should be unsharp
No, but a large DOF using a small aperture does. Remember: small aperture, high number. Big aperture, low number.

f/45 is a very small aperture.

evoWALO your shots are looking really soft to me, almost like the ones I get out of my D60. How's that ?

The rocks should be defined while the riverwater should be soft/blurry/smooth. 15 seconds should blur out any bubbling in the water and the aperture should keep everything static in focus while reducing the amount of light for exposure.

This type of photography is often done with filters like the ND but I did not use it here as the forest shade or time of day allowed for reduced sunlight. :)

The photos posted were my first attempt and I am pleased with the results.

If you want small aperture try f/64 ;)
