Random thoughts.... [Tech Edition]

Thanks, I'll go lurking around then.

You can grab a image direct from microsoft via this link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/mic...-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html

To MS, the most important thing is the License Key, not the OS itself, hence why they have it out there in the open like that. Because this is direct from Microsoft, you don't have to worry about malware piggybacking on the download.

Also, yeah, Dell changed the way it handles recovery starting in May of this year for Windows 7 systems. Before they gave you a DVD containing nothing but the OS, along with a Drivers disk, but now they make you burn off recovery disk images from the recovery partition on the hard drive like HP, Lenovo and almost every other pc maker. Kinda sucks as it makes performing a clean install a bit more difficult, and it's yet another choice that's taken away.

FUCK. YES.

Once you get use to massive screens, everything else just feels cramped :p

Yes, after using the iPad even that thing is a small phone. Such a useless, tiny screen! :p

If anyone is interested, I made a (rather poor) video of Android 2.2 running on my iPhone 3G. Overall, 2.2 feels a lot more sophisticated (and dare I say it?) and a LOT more customizable than the iOS!

edit - Gotta use macro next time :p

Where did you get the 2.2 firmware? When I did it, I ended up with 1.6. Also, do you have power management (so that the phone lasts more than 60 minutes on battery)?

Here is the link to the Froyo files. Just put them in the usr/var directory where your 1.6 files are. Power management has yet to be done yet (though I do believe that there are people who are working on it). Happy modding!

edit - Btw, you should use it with alex's 0.4 kernel. It seems to run a lot faster and cooler with that kernal.

Get it here:

Thanks, it seems to work! I haven't played around with the different kernels and such yet, but at least initially it seems to be quite a lot slower than 1.6. Froyo sure looks nice though. I'll keep playing around with it.

Edit: Looks like accelerated graphics drivers have yet to be ported to 2.2, which is why everything seems totally laggy.

Argh, I wanted to delete th Program Files and Windows folders left behind by the 7 Beta on one of my partitions and it looks like 50% of all files can't be deleted. I've tried DEL and RD in Cmd and I've managed to clear some folders with Unlocker but that takes ~1000000 years. Any other solutions?

How about Disc Cleanup? That got rid my Windows.old folder.
