Now that I've actually ventured outside the Off-Topic forum and found out about this, I think I might just try to make it out to the Chicago race. Its highly unlikely, but its far enough away that I have planning and saving (and begging my parents) time. :mrgreen:
 
I wish I could make it to one of the races.

In the meantime, you should come out to Sparta with me on a run what you want night. I wanna thrash on my Buick at the strip.

Anywho, more on topic.. Cool photo sets. I gotta get to one of these events. I missed the ChumpCar event at Shannonville up here, so maybe I should get my butt in gear on my passport to make the next one.
 
So I got my hands on the lap timing detail. A little fiddling and some pretty pictures start coming out of the data:

Color-coding is by driver. I *THINK* I got that part correct, but I'm not 100% sure on the order we went Sunday. It looks like our transponder gipped us out of about 4 laps, maybe more (unless there were some very, very slow yellow laps while other people were in the car)

Bonus factoid: It took 17 hours, 22 minutes to complete lap 153.

You guys sounded like you had a bit of a challenge on your hands and did well to get on top in 43rd. Belated congrats. And wow, Quiky's got skill.

In the last one there, the green car is a Pontiac Grand Am the GTP is in the process of passing.

There were a lot of local London guys going yesterday (none raced). I would have went but my car was on the ramps until about 9 pm getting fixed.

So Punisher Bass et all, where is the video? Lets go, getting impatient here.

Nice videos so far :). Looks like the atmosphere is very welcoming and helpful.
 
Something you can't see in the video is just how MASSIVE the brakes are on that merc. I don't know where they got them from, but they're just fucking HUGE.
 
Brakes themselves are actually OE rotors and calipers (it is, after all, an S500).

The pads are custom Carbotech pads using one of their higher-end compounds on OE backing plates (apparently they do this rather affordably - if they don't stock pads for your vehicle, they'll go out and buy cheapass pads, knock off the compound, and adhere their own compound to the backing plates)
