No 56k: Grand Theft Auto IV

Does anyone know how to do this? I changed the buoyancy on one of the cars to try but all it does it now is float and doesn't move.. lol. And it can't move on land.

I doubt the SA-style amphibious car mod is possible in GTA4.

found this today which may be of interest to some...

Makers of GTA Looking for New Staff
Scottish developer Rockstar North looking for a plethora of new developers. Could this be for Grand Theft Auto V?
Yesterday the internet was awash with discussion and deliberation regarding the inevitable sequel, Grand Theft Auto V. Rumours emerged that an announcement concerning a new title in the world's most successful series was imminent and that Hollywood would be the game's setting. As usual Rockstar remained stoically silent, not commenting on rumour or speculation but today seven new job postings for the Scottish developer have been discovered by specialist outlet, Connected Consoles.

The job advertisements include:

- Environment Artists
- Online Architect
- Physics Programmer
- Systems Programmer
- Character Animators
- C Programmer, Audio Department
- AI Programmer

Obviously these positions could be for any project, but there are some intriguing details amongst the respective job requirements including Rockstar North wanting an individual who possesses "exceptional skill in animating realistic human characters", and the experience of developing titles on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
The Scottish developer are currently working on the Playstation 3 exclusive Agent, so these positions could be to bolster that game's existing team, but if that is so, why ask for applicants to be experienced on Microsoft's platform as well?
Whatever the case, the speculation surrounding Grand Theft Auto V will surely go on and on, until the inevitable big-budget reveal which will occur at some point in the future.

Try this handling line
Code:
1750.0 0.00 80 0.0 0.0 -0.35 0.0 6 0.270 1.0 260.0 0.22 0.520 0.45 34.0 1.40 1.14 09.6 0.13 0.4832 2.5 2.2 2.2 0.12 -0.14 0.0 0.50 1.0 0.6 1.1 1.5 0.0 90000 00440810 00000000 0
Soften the suspension but also increased dampening and rebound, it's removes the twitchyness of the harder spring and not as bouncy. Also added some weight, lowered the center of gravity to reduce roll and gave it more torque for those times when you need to give it a boot full mid corner :p. Might need some more work done to it though.

 That is fun as shit. Thing just loves to powerslide now.

I havent put the M3 in yet, will try with that handling line

Can someone link me to the exact M3 that you all are using, there's a few versions iirc

I've made a rail gun model, but I'm not sure how to put it into GTA. I've dimensioned it so it should be similar in size (thereby not needing any special animations) to an AK. I have sound for it. I don't really have any texture for it because I did it on sketchup so I'll have to redo them. I'm happy with it. Anyone want to help me get this thing into GTA? :)

I've been having some issues with the game.

On a fresh install, the game runs fine. If I try to patch the game (legit retail copy of the game) it will no longer launch. I installed the 1.0.7.0 patch, and it just does nothing when I try to run the game. :(

Any ideas? I've searched and I cannot find any similar issues?

edit:

Core i7 w/ 4gb ddr3
1gb ati 5730

edit2: Finally got it working but FPS is noticeably down from previously :( Benchmark puts me at 20fps with full maxed settings and 16x aa. This little computer does pretty good :)

 I barely get that with my 4890 (which as far as I can tell by benchmarks should be a lot stronger). I guess I really do need to upgrade my processor (2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E7300).

Dont use 16xAA :|

Turn it down to 8 or 4, that's the biggest fps killer, and water reflection and night shadows

16xAA and maxed out settings and 20 FPS? I think im going to faint.....:?

And I had to bid farewell to my GTA. With the recent HDD failure I have doubts whether I can backup the mod files...

Wow, that's amazing. What resolution are you running? Gotta be pretty low to get that many FPS with 16xAA on.

I run no AA whatsoever and only get about 60 FPS on max settings at 1920x1200.

Okay, question for you lot. I really want to play EFLC on my PC and mod it. I'm a bit worried that my specs will keep it from being playable. No, I can't upgrade anything because I have a shite BTX mobo and I can't afford a new mobo, RAM, and CPU. My question is this: Is it playable? And by playable I mean that I'm not running it with everything on low at 800x600.

Here they are:
XP 32 bit
P4HT 3.4Ghz
2GB RAM
1GB BFG 250GTS

Guess where the bottleneck is? :p

Res was max for my screen. I say it would do 20fps in benchmark, but it slowed down to a crawl actually playing the game. I can run most settings on high (with the exception of night shadows) and if I turn Vsync and the video capture off I can have pretty solid FPS (between 30-60) at all times.

I've been playing with the audio weapon data. I now have an AK that behaves (and sounds) like a rail gun. I just need to put my model in somehow. Its awesome when you shoot a car and there is so much force on impact that the car rolls over. Also it sounds like a crack of thunder when I shoot it :)

BOGT has explosive rounds for an AA12 automatic shotgun. Tweaking that should be a fun time...

Dude, turn off AA. It's the absolute last thing you should turn on.

The game will look 100x better if you increase the video settings with no AA vs. lowering the video settings with AA on.

Anyway, this is hilarious: get in a boat (in water) and enable the car lowering force. -0.20 namely. It pushes the boat down into the water and them out come up outta the water flying crazy high.

It may be obvious, but you are aware of the swingset glitch? Many fun times to be had. You win if you can drive the car back to the starting point.

Another P4 user! Im not alone in this world :D Sure it will play. But don't expect 60FPS all the time :p (I have the same specs except the VGA which is a 9400GT)

Anyone else try to do any sound modding? I've been trying to go off of clips from youtube, but it is very difficult! Doesn't help that the GTA sound engine is very simple and all of the car sounds are completely artificial. I think it just takes a sample clip then just adjusts the frequency as engine revs go up. I can't seem to find a way to adjust where the sample RPM is taken though (looked through handling file and some others), so it's going waaay to high pitch (sounds like a supercharger )
