Halo Reach

All games can be installed to the hard drive but Halo 3 was created before that option and would run slower if you did so, so it was not recommended to do so. ODST was able to take advantage of an HDD install and Reach will do so also.

Luke Smith gets on my nerves so much.

recieved my e-mail from amazon that my edition is on its way... just hoping the royal mail don't screw up.

I find it interesting how all I've seen is pure beauty with the graphics and yet I see these reviews saying how there is a lack of detail...

graphically it is very beautiful and i think what they mean by lack of detail they might mean as in the little things, enemy ai or squad ai. the sort of things that can get in the way of some gameplay.

Squad AI is fucking retarded. Oftentimes other members of NT6 will wander past the entire enemy army and be chilling out at the checkpoint waiting for you to catch up.

Enemy AI is pretty fantastic on legendary, they tend to exploit weaknesses very well.

I pre ordered mine from Amazon and it didn't dispatch today like the estimate said. It's now been on "Dispatching Soon" for an entire day.

ign spoke of this. I'm guessing if the NT AI was just as good as the covies, there would not be much for you to do. I'd say they may have toned the AI down too much.

they may have done it so players opt to go for a co-op experience over one of the AI.

Halo: Reach Launches Jet Packs In Trafalgar Square
500x_jetpack.jpg

Using jet packs as marketing tools has been done before, but in the case of the Halo: Reach launch event held in London's historic Trafalgar Square this morning the spectacle was quite appropriate.

What better way to introduce the people of London to a Halo game that introduces jet packs than a man wearing Spartan armor and a jet pack? In this case the Spartan in question is Dan Schlund of Texas' Rocketman, a firm that hires out jet packs to marketing and sporting events. After posing with a couple more Spartan soldiers, Dan took off for a 30-second flight around the square as passersby looked on.

Halo Reach was on BBC News this morning (where News Presenter Carrie Gracie announced it as "nintendos newest shoot em up game").
Hundreds queue for midnight launch of Halo Reach
Stores across the world opened at midnight for the launch of the latest instalment of the blockbuster Halo video game series. Hundreds queued to get their hands on the first person shooter. In the UK, more than 400 stores opened their doors at midnight, while glitzy events were held in New York's Times Square, Stockholm, Seattle, Sydney, London and Oslo. The title is the fourth in the series and the last from US developer Bungie. The previous edition, Halo 3, was at one time the biggest-selling game of all time. That record is now held by Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare.
The first edition of Halo was released as a launch title for Microsoft's XBox game console and became an immensely popular title, spawning a slew of sequels. The game sees players engaged in a futuristic war between humanity and a race of aliens hell-bent on mankind's destruction. This latest version sees the same game principles, but puts you in the role of a super-soldier called Noble 6 as he battles the alien collective.
Guy Cocker, editor of gaming website GameSpot UK, said the title was "quite a big deal" and had generated a lot of excitement on the web. "We're able to track activity and Halo Reach is the most popular game on the site right now," he said. "In comparison to Halo 3 though, I'm not sure how well it will go down. It's had a good critical reception, but Microsoft are certainly spending a lot of money promoting the game."
The franchise has been a very successful venture for Microsoft. The game has sold more than 34 million copies in the nine years of its life and helped boost the popularity of the Xbox 360. In May, an invitation for users to help play test the game before its final release attracted more than 2.7 million players.
High hopes
Microsoft's entertainment director, Stephen McGill, told the games industry newspaper MCV that it was the firms "biggest Halo release ever. The marketing campaign for Halo: Reach sees a 60% increase over what was spent on Halo 3."
The run-up to the launch was overshadowed last month when copies of the game appeared on file-sharing sites such as The Pirate Bay. Microsoft said any caught playing an unauthorised copy of the game ran the risk of a permanent ban. But while Halo was the dominant first person shooter on consoles, it has been eclipsed by Call of Duty and, to a lesser degree, Medal of Honour. "Halo is still a very important title in the industry," said Mr Cocker. "But it will be difficult for Halo to match up to other titles, such as Call of Duty," he added.
The game, which has a recommended price of ?59.99 in the UK, has also sparked a price war. Among the supermarkets, Sainsbury's is selling it for ?34.99, while Tesco is selling it for ?28 when customers buy ?17 of credit for the console's online gaming network. Online retailers are also undercutting each other. New firm Gametail is selling the game on pre-order for ?31.95, significantly less than the ?37.99 that Amazon, Game, Play and HMV are selling it for.
Halo Reach is the last title to be developed by Bungie Studios, a former subsidiary of Microsoft. Bungie split from its parent company in 2007, less than a week after the release of Halo 3. Microsoft, which retain the rights to the Halo series, has handed it over to an in-house development studio, 343 Industries.

i can't help but laugh at the report stating that the game has a retail cost of ?59.99, which is practically unheard of. The highest price i've seen for a game is ?44.99 in GAME. i don't know where they got that information but they were way off target there.

Everyone must be too busy playing to post :p

I played a bit last night before going to bed, and I'm glad I'm playing through on Heroic first, since I feel that anything lower would be too easy, but Legendary would be a bit much for me right now. Everything is gorgeous, but I do know what they mean by "lack of detail" sometimes, especially when there's a lot going on.

only on the first level and i'm already loving it. really liking the story and chatter between the team. O'Donnell has out-done himself with the music as well. Really need to track down the soundtrack.

Just played the first mission. Looks gorgeous! The way things are set up, cover is never very far, which is good since I have a habit of not paying attention to my shields.

I haven't played it yet, but man the collector's edition is awesome. I got the regular LCE (not Legendary) and is by far the best *regular* (sub $100) collector's I've ever seen. The whole packaging with the way the contents slide out, and how nice the diary is, and the attention to detail with the pages inserted at different parts of the diary are really cool. I know it's nerdy but just sliding out the box put the biggest smile on my face lol. I still would've liked a steel game case though...

i know what you mean, i really like Halsey's Journal and the design of the standard collectors editon is very good. although much like yourself i would have preferred it if they had done a steelcase version so i can be a completionist and have it go with my steelcase versions of Halo 3 and Halo Wars.
however one thing that has stood out for me. since it concerns the plot of the game i'll spoiler it for those who haven't played the game yet or just simply don't want to know.
At the start of the game, i liked how Noble Team were introduced and sent on what looked like a standard mission. However i just feel that the Covenant forces wouldn't have just simply appeared. Its odd how they were able to sneak up on Reach un-detected. Yet in Halo 2 they launched a major attack on Earth that was detected long enough to engage those giant accelerator cannon thingys. With a planet like Reach i honestly would have expected them to have gone in, masses of ships with a surprise attack and started kicking human arse.
also, if the events of Halo: Reach have made the book "the fall of reach" fall out of canon. i am left wondering as to the whereabouts of a certain John-117.
