2010 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix

1- Pole and winner?
Vettel, Alonso or Webber

2- Who will lead the WDC after?
Webber

3- Which team will lead the championship after?
RBR

4- Is Ferraris form going to hold or will we see a festival of energy drinks?
They will. Similar to Singapore Red Bulls will be faster but they'll make more mistakes. I think (or rather hope) that 3 leading teams will be closer than ever.

5- Safety car periods?
Look there will be rain so 1 SC.

6- Best new team driver?
Kovalainen or Glock if Virgin will find some race pace.

7- Kobayashis performance?
10th with some luck.

8- Heidfeld-points?
no

Although I hate the fact it was Hamilton, this is why Suzuka is such a great track. It punishes mistakes. On any other Tilkedrome he would've just kept his foot in it and powered through the asphalt runoff. Cant do that here, you screw up the Degners, you're heading for the wall!

I just missed the end of FP1 (hard to get there in time from Tokyo( but I was there for all of FP2. Suzuka is an amazing place to visit and I've got great seats. Sitting in the grandstand just after the Casino Triangle (grandstand Q1, just near the ferris wheel(, so I see them braking after 130R, coming through the shicanes, then accelerating onto the home straight or entering the pits, and thanks to the layout of the track we can see them going through the 2nd turn and through the S'es.

I won't be able to upload any photos until I return home to Australia, but I meant to take a few happy snaps with my iPhone today that I could upload in the meantime. I'll definitely do that tomorrow for FP3 and Quali and upload them tomorrow night. I'm intending to walk around the track during FP3 so hopefully I can give you a good view of what the track is like from a bunch of different angles.

Any particular photo requests for parts of the track?

T1, Esses and Spoon, so basically the three most spectacular sections that are accessible (not sure if it's possible to stand on the inside of 130R) if you can walk the full length of the track though.

That should be possible. We walked around a lot today and they didn't give a shit where your tickets were for (there was no one checking tickets at all once you got inside, but I'd imagine that will change on Sunday(. There was no bag search either, so everyone here is carrying massive lenses.

Watching practice 3 on BBC Red Button. The track is soo wet, with loads of rain. Apparently, Quali may be postponed till sunday morning weather permitting.

EDIT: At the end of Practice 3, 2 cars set a time, Algesuaruiriairi and Timo Glock. That may be the front row for the race tomorrow.

this!!!

@vikirad: do you know if D'Ambrosio got to test again with a virgin? and how did he do?

He might be taking part in the "young driver" test which takes place in the week after Abu Dhabi, but I haven't heard anything about Virgin slotting him into the car for Fridays in the next three races.

Yesterday he was 4 tenths off Glock in FP1, apparently.

wow so Quali postponed and theyre gonna do it 5 hours before the start of the race?

i pity the guy (and his mechanics) that stuffs it during quali.... there will be barely any time to fix the car

I'm all for no quali. Obviously. :p

Today was absolutely horrible out there. It rained hard all day, and even harder when the cars were supposed to be out for quali. We could literally see about an inch or more of water running down the casino triangle and final corner for the entire time quali was supposed to be on.

Big respect to the Torro Rosso drivers though. At the end of FP3 they got into formation and drove around together revving the engines and waving to the crowd. At least we got some joy for the day!

I've got only a couple of pictures (didn't want to get my phone wet( so I'll try and upload those shortly. Right now, I need to get dry!
