Test Drive Unlimited 2: Wanna get dirty?

This is pure shit. I wouldn't complain but it's just uncontrollable. Not even remotely enjoyable to drive, with a controller or a wheel. I don't even care that the cars handle unrealistically - that can be fun. It's just that the controls suck moldy monkey nuts and it brings everything down.

Playing with the Xbox 360 controller felt pretty alright to me. Do you have one to try it with or did you already try it with the x360 controller?

i've gotten ok with the Xbox 360 controller but most of the time the cars still behave wildly and keeping them in a straight line can be tough. i haven't tried the wheel controller yet, got my hands full enough with just the normal controller.

I like 4 wheel drifting the S5. It's quite easy with the keyboard. Haven't tried the wheel yet, but I do know that I want a real life S5. The sound... OH MY GOD <3

I think I have to go drive all the way to the airport, drive back, go home, drive to the airport in the S5, travel back to Oahu and then do the championship...

Can you spell retarded?

Sounds uncannily like something from Random Thoughts.

Actually, since then I found out if you go to the billboard in your garage you can warp the cars from the other garages.

Ugh... I've just gone over to Oahu and it took the car I was in when I got to the airport, which was an SUV. Now I have to take an A5 championship, but before I can do that, I have to buy an A5 car, with a perfectly good Audi S5 in my garage back on Ibiza... no, if you buy a house there will be a spot in the garage where you can pick a car to drive from all your cars. i found it last night in hawaii at my house. there was a computer in the garage and it had a list of all my cars

Nah, PS3. I know the DS3 sticks are useless but GT5 played fine on the controller.

It wouldn't be so bad with a wheel if the force feedback actually did something and there wasn't this huge dead zone (and yeah, I played with all the settings trying to fix that).

^I fucked around with the settings a lot trying to make my dfgt usable, but i failed.

I have to say I had very low hopes for the game but after having tried it for a couple of hours I've been impressed. Not a big step from TDU1 but after having watched all those trailers showing the social stuff I wasn't expecting much. And it plays fine with the Xbox360 controller (PC version).

The things with the settings for the wheel is weird. The sensitivity for instance seems to be backwards, if you set the slider to minimum the car steers with the lightest touch of the wheel (too much in fact) and if you set it on max, it doesn't move unless you're on full lock.
Here are my settings, maybe it makes your wheel work or not, might as well give it a try...

You can just open your map and click where you wanna go, taken that you've discovered the road, so that'd take you about a minute...

Does anyone know how to get to the Ibiza Cup? I have done all the challenges on Ibiza (at least I think so) and now I am in Oahu but I can't see any cups.

(By the way - I reached level 25 and I still can't sell the pink Mustang)

Here is what I think about the game so far.

It is absolutely terrific. The car control is even better than the one in TDU1. Feels a little more realistic, but not like a simulation. The casino is actually not so bad, I had some fun in there. The voiceovers are terrible and the whole story is cheesy and unnecessary. TDU1 had no story and it was just fine.

Ibiza is kinda boring and I've already discovered 89% of it. Oahu is just as great as before, and it is even more fun now with the offroad vehicles. There are some very beautiful places.

The only downside so far is the car list. There are too few cars, and the car classes are sometimes weird. Lancia vs Mustang vs Lotus...really? Same story with the other classes. It also seems that the majority of the cars are brand new 2009-2010 models, which should make all the kids happy...but not the real car enthusiasts.

I really miss the XJ200, F1, 288 GTO, Miura, Countach, F40, Esprit Turbo, the Maseratis...hopefully some of them will be added through DLC.

(Also, going fast offroad is fun, but I somehow think that 150mph on gravel in a Mercedes ML is a bit too unrealistic)

Don't worry about car lists... This game was thought out to be heavy on the online content so I'm pretty sure you'll see car packs released as DLCs. It's fashionable now.

My verdict on the current version is that its good, not quite as good as TDU1, but it's a patch or two away from being even better, especially if they get the clubs back up. I'm getting graphics glitches, even after updating my drivers. The control is a bit wonky, but that could be because my wheel is an old cheap piece of crap and not so much because of the game itself. None of that totally kills the game for me though, I still like it. Ibiza looks nice and I'm glad they added a day/might cycle, it felt wierd in the first game without it. And yeah I do hope we get way more cars through DLC.
