Diecast Models

That 'Stang: Is that some special edition Maisto or something. Looks like HotWheels.
Yeah, it's part of their Pro Rods lineup. The Malibu and Nomad posted above somewhere are Pro Rods, too. They have fuel tanks in the boot, racing harnesses, fire extinguishers, and roll cages in some cases, too.

I started out only collecting supercars (first was my McLaren F1 around 1995 or so), but as the selection has become more varied in recent years, I've enjoyed collecting "fun" cars, too. I love some of the newer 1:64 cars, too, as seen above. The cheap-looking wheels on Hot Wheels were always a turn-off for me, but now there are some much more detailed ones.

While I'm thinking of it, I have a question: Can anyone refer me to some Canadian online companies that specialize in die-cast toys?

I've searched, but haven't found many results. I'd prefer to buy within Canada as there would be none of the usual problems of ordering from the States and having them opening the packages at the border then charging me ridiculous amounts of tax.

I'm thinking of bying a 1:18 BMW E46 M3. Trouble is i can't seem to be able to find one in silver! from what i could find Minichamps only has the GTR and Kyosho only makes the standard M3 in yellow  . AutoArt has it in black which is ok too, but only with brown interior which is not ok. Red and Imola blue is out of the question. That leaves the white, but do i have to live with that? Do any of you diecast experts know if there is a 1:18 standard M3 in silver out there?
Ohh, and do you know if there will be a 1:18 E60 M5 anytime soon?

hey M3 lover,

the M5 E60 is already availble by Kyosho in blue, silver and bronze.

I will search for a silver M3 for you :)
I only collect 1/43 and there is a silver M3 avaible.

you should think about buying the M3 CSL. Its silver and looks much cooler than the normal M3 ;)

as for me, I bought some new models for my daily grwoing collection:

it was a great year for collectors :D

Thx Faultier.
The CSL looks cool yes, but i still like the standard better. I also don't want the models i'm going to buy to look too "Bling". I'm looking for more "mature" models so they don't get distincted with some cars i could have gotten when i was a kid.
I'm a student so funds are limited and books are expensive :( . Therefore i only have money for one model (If i don't want to live of pasta the next two months  ). Think i'm going to get a white AutoArt M3 http://www.aa-collection.com/cgi-bin/autoartshopping/70545.html
I will be making some money in the summer break. I think i'm gonna buy the M5 and M6 there. Perhaps also a E30 M3 if i make enough.

P.S ?bercool collection you got Faultier. Love your lambos. Is it just me or aren't there that many Ferraris?

I would buy the CSL only if it were in black (which I'm sure is available) because it hides that ugly carbon roof that is so much more visible on the silver coloured one.

But if your gonna get a normal M3, I'd get it in something striking like red :D

Huh

Whats wrong with red? TBH I think white on these sorts of cars give them a "commercial" feel to it. Its a German sportscar man, it should be a striking colour.

Heres a pic of a red M3 I found lieing around my documents. I took this one in GT4.

Well, i guess red isen't a mortal sin. It's just that it looks soooooo much better in silver for example. Also because silver is the German racing color. The red kinda spoils the rear lights also. IMO German sportscars shouldn't have "striking" colours. Their design and aura is just too cool, or cold (in a good way) for a warm exotic color. It's like having a executive running around in a hawaii paterned suit. It just dosen't fit.
I'm only getting it in white because it isen't made in silver in 1:18 for some obscure reason.

i'd get one in black, blue or white

silver is for grandpa and red doesn't fit beemers

M3Lover,

Thanks  Pasta is cool :lmao:

I got about 9 Ferraris...the pics I showed you are just a little extract of my whole collection. You should be able to see it on page 1 of this thread or so.

^Yeah, i have seen the pics of your whole collection (awesome). But considering how many Ferraris there are made compared to ohter cars, 9 out of 200++ isen't a whole lot. Not the big Ferrari man myself (except for the F355 mmmhh). I think my long term strategy will be to collect as much of the M range as possible in 1:18

Cars I'd like to purchase this year:

My b-day is coming up fast and I'm thinking of making the Ford GT Auto Art in red (last link) to be my gift.

//EDIT: One more link

Question: Does the Ford GT's "boot" in the front open on AutoArts?
Also, Bimmer M5 in black or production spec silver?

i agree with you on the ford GT. I MUST have one... for less than $60 hopefully.

lol I ripped a small part of wrapping paper of my early b-day present and saw what was written on the box :shifty:
Did a search on the net and found out that it is a Maisto 1:18 1936 Mercedes Benz 500K :D
Heres a pic of what I can expect when I fully open it:

Will post my own pics once it gets opened fully and added to my collection. Hopefully I will have my Ford GT aswell!!

Wow! The folding bonnet is cool!

I'll definatetly be getting some of the ones you listed SL65.

Are there good suppliers in Australia? I have trouble getting certain models and usually end up ordering them in England, which cost a fortune if I want them send down under.
