The Trump Presidency - how I stopped worrying and learned to love the Hair

Sorry, not accusing you of anything, just pointing out a very salient example calling back to that previous conversation.

Video shows Trump joking about crowd size while visiting shooting victims.

"I was here three months ago," Mr. Trump said. "That place was packed ... That was some crowd. And we had twice the number outside. And then you had this crazy Beto. Beto had like 400 people in a parking lot, they said his crowd was wonderful."

No matter how his staff tries to prep or spin things, the sack of shit can't even comfort the victims of a terrorist attack without making it about him.

Trump’s Photo-Op With the Orphaned El Paso Baby Was the Smallest Moment of His Presidency

It’s not simply that an injured baby had to be returned to a hospital so that a grinning president could throw a Fonzie-style thumbs-up for the Twitter fans—that’s gross, yes, but it misses the point. The point is that this president, who understands only ratings and adulation and crowd size and “getting credit,” is seemingly incapable of subordinating all that to the moment. This was a moment in which grieving Americans wanted nothing more than for him to show up and be with them. The “catastrophe,” with all due respect to the unparalleled wisdom of Scaramucci, is not that he failed to show the requisite “compassion” or “empathy” for the cameras. Neither Donald Trump, nor his wife, nor his handlers and enablers, will ever understand that the real catastrophe isn’t how he appeared on television or Twitter. The real catastrophe is that Americans are dead and dying and their president is mass-producing a television show about his presidency, with their personal tragedy as a set choice.

Trump cannot function in reality. He lives in a hall of mirrors with his made-for-TV family, as the national security apparatus, the national intelligence apparatus, the foreign service, and foreign policy detonate all around him. And on the rare occasion on which he is called to step out from behind the glass panopticon that he has built, he fails, spectacularly, because that which really matters can’t be tweeted or reduced to a campaign video.

Dow Tumbles 800 Points As Bond Markets Signal Recession

Stocks plunged Wednesday on deepening worries over a slowdown in the global economy.

The Dow closed down 800 points, or about 3%. Investors have been whipsawed in recent days by mixed signals emerging from the Trump administration about tariffs and the escalating trade war with China.

The jitters were exacerbated amid worrisome economic data from two big countries. Germany posted negative growth in the latest quarter, and China's growth in industrial output fell to a 17-year low.

An even bigger worry: The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell below 2-year Treasurys for the first time since 2007. In other words, you would get a higher interest rate for government debt that matures in two years than in 10 years.

Such an inversion in yields has a strong track record of predicting a recession, especially the longer it continues. Each of the last seven recessions, dating to 1969, was preceded by the 10-year falling below the two-year.

Trump and his administration: Accuses Omar of being anti-Semitic for criticizing policy decisions.
Accusing Jews of dual loyalty is a policy decision critique? Also wasn't just Trump criticizing her
NPR said:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for her to apologize

Also Trump and his administration: Pepper sprays and runs over Jews.
A few overzealous guards dispersing a crowd has about as much to do with anti semitism as me yelling at a black guy who cut me off does with racism.

So a tenuous connection of behavior to motivation is enough for Trump to accuse someone of being an antisemite, but the same metric can't be used when it goes the other way?

If only there was a word for that...

Also, maybe you missed the part where a uniformed guard who was hired to run a for-profit concentration camp used his vehicle to run over protesters from a Jewish organization. I will retract my comment implying hypocrisy when Trump accuses the guards of being antisemitic.

Trump limits immigration to people who will not be a public charge.
Trump wants to buy Greenland from Denmark, who has experienced financial woes paying subsidies to the independent territory.

I swear, this guy is going through his presidency by Brownian Motion; he can't even be internally consistent, let alone congruent with reality.

Are all those other people who are not Trump and called her an anti-semite, including other members of her own party don’t count?

So if a black guy pisses you off and you punch him are you then racist? Yes the guard was in the wrong, he used excessive force, but the fact that he used it against Jews doesn’t automatically imply anti-semitism. Accusing Jews of dual loyalty is not exactly subtle...

Ooh can we make Greenland into a huge race track?

Israel's lobbying and political manipulation in the US isn't subtle either.

There is a difference between disagreeing with the lobbying and policy and saying “Jews are/do X”.
There is plenty of all kinds of lobbying going on, some you agree with (doubt you want NRA to stop lobbying for gun rights) some you don’t.

Sadly, the prisons are probably to profitable for that to happen. Itt could.change the way they operate a bit though.

Israel has made themselves synonymous with Judaism for this very reason. They get caught doing shady shit and their response is "criticizing us is antisemitic!"

Except she didn't criticize Israel, she didn't say "Israel", she didn't say "Zionist" she said "Jews".

She did the same thing you criticize Trump for, she said something in an inflammatory manner that, at minimum, made her look like an anti-semite. Why is it that you excuse this type of rhetoric from Omar but not from Donny?
