Someone Else's Problem: My '19 2002 turbo

So.... in a few days, someone will send a single wheel from Kiel to wherever the dealership is from which the mobile service sourced the wheel? :D

Düsseldorf, and yes.
It's labeled F20-21-22-23, so an intentional 1/2er loaner wheel it seems.

Fucking hell.. So I guess only if you buy the tires with the star yourself or with rims they're covered, but not when they come with the car? Grrrreat..

Yeah, if your four new starred tyres came with a car attached to them then you're SOL... Or, in my case, you hand the bill to your company ?

260ish€ of not-my-money later, new rubber is in place :) now I have 1/4 tyre warranty...

Meanwhile, I had a go at going fast topless... 2xy kph sure do come quickly :burnrubber:

Another meanwhile, a bit I didn't post yet because the responsible party refused responsibility until earlier today: It came with a broken handbrake and ruined rear brake disks. BMW was like "user error, lulz"... delivery dealer finally accepted to cough up ?

I've sort-of-properly fitted the dashcam cables :woot:

Plenty of room for the cable there, by now it's been fixed in place with a bit of tape.

I might eventually tie the bottom of the coil up as well.

This is probably near the bottom of what the car is capable of on level ground with the top down without a massive tailwind or drafting like a madman:

Mostly constant 90kph. Going faster you're looking at 2x

Mostly constant 90kph. Going faster you're looking at 2x
...and going very fast / being an idiot / "training" you're looking at 4x that :driving:
Two months further along, this happened: Nothing broke

October brought out the winter boots:

Not sure I believe this claim of ecopro adding 15% more range  it is quite clever though. For example, when it tells you to take your foot off the gas because there's a town a couple corners down the road and you do it, it will go into neutral... expected. However, if you wait for a while and then take your foot off the gas, it will stay in top gear, cut fuel to the engine entirely, and go into charging. If you wait even longer, it will slightly downshift too to somewhat match the speedlimit+10ish

Quote scary too - it will tell you to slow down for sharp corners, but only if you're driving like a madman... allegedly :shifty:

November brought this:

Push ALL the buttons!

Naturally, I managed to unplug the dashcam a few days prior and didn't notice ?‍♂️

The rear winters now look... appropriate

The sprinklers left an ugly layer of grime on the car, so free wash it is ? shiny car is shiny again.

So.... in a few days, someone will send a single wheel from Kiel to wherever the dealership is from which the mobile service sourced the wheel? :D

Plot twist, the wheel just made it back to Düsseldorf last week. Apparently BMW Kiel failed to mail it :shakefist: I should have just kept it and sold myself, instead of complaining to get my 100€ deposit back.

Back then I thought 1/4 tyre warranty was a bad joke, but it just came in handy ?‍♂️ luckily this happened on the way home, two blocks from home. Quite audible on every rotation too.

Apparently my right rear is a magnet :dunno: got plugged within an hour by the free BMW Mobile Service

The culprit:

...didn't have a banana...

New tyre came in two days later, all is well again ?
Bonus, a literal half hour before picking up the screw I almost vacuumed my footwells but didn't, now BMW did

TIL the long-term trip computer that I reset exactly once after taking delivery maxes out at 9999km. WTF?
I get that a mechanical or 7-segment digital counter only has as many digits as it has, but this is in the large center screen. Why go through the trouble of implementing a limit? :shakefist:

:dunno: I'll try to keep it going regardless, hopefully the hours driven at least won't hit a cap over the next 31 months.

TIL the 2er has a distance-sailed-ometer  however it seems to reset itself as soon as you turn the engine off, instead of a more sensible reset when you turn the ignition back on after a longer break... so you'll have to take my word for it that it claimed 23km freewheeling over a leisurely 120km drive :jawdrop:

IMG_20200601_171847.jpg

I know it's dusty.

During roadtrip prep I noticed bmw-routes.com is dead... some googling ensued, and as it turns out they just use a fairly simple XML file inside a tar.gz  put tar.gz on USB drive, plug in, select import, done.

Returned from the pre-pre-ringmeet-roadtrip-roadtrip, all is well albeit a bit dirty

Loading done, still shiny save for one Denmark's worth of bugsplats... for some reason I always end up near the top of the boat on every one of the four HSC FjordCat trips I've taken :dunno:

Can't wait for their new boat, delayed by covid until next year:

Back in a country with wide open roads and reasonable speed limits...

...Denmark...
...and back in a country with wide open roads and no reasonable speed limits :burnrubber:
IMG_20200724_195144.jpg

...you have to floor it upon crossing the border, it's the law ?‍♂️

Don't let the picture selection fool you, about half the time it was raining... but that's to be expected, I'm not complaining ?

Now that I have fillups in almost every calendar month it's become very clear that the 2er likes summer:

Also, this is now the 2nd most efficient M235i/M240i on spritmonitor once you discount incorrect entries claiming 1l/100km :lmao:
