What's your latest [non-technology] purchase?

No shame in Ibby's premium line. I've played Premiums that were better built than some recent Prestiges.

I'd say you got a cracking deal, especially after the £100 discount when I remembered to convert from Canuckistan Pesos instead of Freedom® Dollars. :p

Yeah I have a late-2000s BTB Prestige and I'd be very hard-pressed to say there's any noticeable difference in quality. Prestige seems to mostly be even more fancy woods and a big-ass price tag. (dat Wenge top on the SR5000 though, hnnnng)

Bleh I know right! I remember when they were at par....

A pair of shoes. Last year I started running, and for various reasons this year I have trouble getting back into it

One of the reasons is that I don't have proper running shoes, and I'm afraid of hurting my knees, so I went and got a pair of Hoka One One Bondi 7.

TIL about (and purchased) second story nozzle kits. This is for if you want to wash parts of your house but can't reach your second story and it's way too dangerous to get on a ladder with your equipment to wash it.

We had birds nesting in our house and so as a consequence there's a lot of bird shit on the windows that we can't reach even from the inside.

The three options are:

1. Ladder and being dangerous
2. Calling a specialist to clean
3. $18 nozzles for your powerwasher specifically designed to get to the next story.

Running is real tough on your body, esp joints, so hope these shoes suit you well!

They would certainly suit me better had I not forgotten home before my German trip :wall:

I bought myself a few days of crippling pain and blisters that will hopefully turn into super comfy boots afterwards.

The fun thing about late stage capitalism is that the copy has become the original: Since Dr. Martens had been sold to some investment fond and production has been moved from the UK to Asia, quality has suffered. I gave away my last pair of Docs to charity since it was so super uncomfortable even after years.
Enter Solovair: A British company that used to make Docs as a subcontractor now produces what can only be described as 100% replicas of them. In England. To the quality one once expected from Dr. Martens proper.

Also, Solovair boots get a place on the (rather short) list of stuff that is cheaper in Finland than it is in Germany.

Not a purchase, but a gift from my brother in law:

Sovereign Class Enterprise 1701-E. It's about a foot long!

Is that a Tucker on the windowsill?

Yes it is, right between the Shelby Cobra and Lamborghini Diablo

It was a revolutionary design for the time, depending on who you ask it was either a fraud or was killed off by the Big 3 and corruption of the system.

It was a little bit of both.

a set of two shock absorbers for my washing machine

Please wish me luck for next Sunday or Monday! 😳 It shouldn’t be too difficult to put them in, but I’ve never tried it before.

I know these things exist on washing machines and many other devices that vibrate, but wow! Viel Spaß!
