Getting a new computer - need some pointers

:D Think so too, working like a charm.

After my search for a good 19"er, I concluded that the Viewsonics are the best! For my price range, 12MS was really good and your looking at an 8MS monitor so it should be even better.

I say go for it...if you want to save a little bit of money, you could go for a 10MS Viewsonic and it'll be just as good. There might be a more noticeable difference with a 12MS monitor though..

When i want to know if a computer product is any good. I go to newegg and check reviews.

I couldn't locate the exact same model as yours but i believe i found the BLACK version of it.

From the looks of it, 5 eggs out of 5.

I don't always trust newegg's reviews though. Most of the time they are trustworthy, but keep in mind that any idiot can post crap there, and sometimes they really do injustice to items that rule.

Thanks :D
I talked to TechZ and some others in the chat yesterday, he talked something about it ghosting, being only VGA and not DVI, how bad is that?
I don't play any crazy games, mostly LFS, The Sims 2 and some strategy games.

very bad !
only vga means that your graphic card converts it's digital picture to analog vga, then the analog signal is send to the monitor and converted back to digital so that it could be displayed :bangin:

dvi = digital video interface so there's no need for any converting -> much better picture

ghosting means that you could see e.g. your mouse leaving a trail behind because of too slow reaction time of the monitor ...16ms or lower should do fine

^ It's 8ms, the one I'm looking at, so that would be acceptable :|

8ms is fine but go for one with DVI
it makes absolutely no sense to use a digital monitor without a digital interface
there's a noticable difference between vga and dvi

i recommend a BenQ FP91G+ ( 261,90€ on amazon.de )

^ Someone suggested that too, but my problem is that I can't get that in the shop I want (I don't have to pay VAT there ;) ) but I'll keep it in mind when I decide :)

Just try and get an LCD with a few things in mind:

*12ms or lower

*DVI connection

*If 19" make sure its atleast 1280x1024
(I went for 19" myself, after a 15" LCD, 17 wouldnt be that much of an improvement in screen size IMO)

*Good brand, dont get totally generic ones, they're too risky, atleast middle of the road brands are decent quality.

My choice: LG/Samsung/Viewsonic, then Acer/Benq

So I've been taken into account everything you've said and came up with this: http://edbpriser.dk/Listprices.asp?ID=161716&Vis=All although the place I'm going to get it is eighter the second og third most expensive it's going to be just about the right price in the end.

^^ viewsonic is cool they come with a 0 pixel failure guarantee 8)

Viewsonic rule :)

These are the TFTs I'd shortlist in order of size:

17": ViewSonic VP730 - http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/81420/viewsonic-vp730.html
20": Philips 200W6 - http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/84867/philips-200w6.html
24": Dell 2405FPW - http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/84869/dell-2405fpw.html

or if you prefer a more gaming orientated TFT then the ViewSonic VX724 is hard to beat.

Again, not sure on your budget - but these are the best monitors on the market as far as the reviews go. Here's a good feature on the latest widescreen TFTs too: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/139/widescreen-tfts/products.html
