Spy Shot: Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The trunk on the maroon car under the A6, what is that anyway, the badge kinda looks like a Nissan...anyway it doesn't look like an A6 :p Looks like the back of the new S-Class no?

The new C-Class looks pretty good, it looks more elegant than the present C-Class, but somehow it looks like the car has been shrunked up from an E-Class.

I hope the beltline isn't actually that high. For God's sakes, it's an automobile, not a D-Day bunker.

I don't usually post CGI images cos they're usually pretty crap, but these onces are goood:

Although its styled on the not so popular S-Class, I rekon it looks quite good on the C body. It would look even better in metallic black with the sport pack.

It set to debut in around a year at next years Geneva...

Even though its still under wraps, I can see the headlamps more clearly and it actually looks quite nice for a C-Class.

The interior image is very vague but they look to be going for an SLK style interior. I gotta say, the SLK interior is the most different interior in the MB range - I really like it!

Also - Look at how the rear door handle sits taller than the front....

Oh no, seems like Merc is going through a BMW phase of designing :( I like the current C-class design better and am not too much of a fan of the new E-class either.

But I guess the foam padding on that thing would just make the pedestrains fling off the car!

Living up to the C class coupe/hatchback legend, it's still as ugly as fuck! But the sedan, from those pics it looks alot better than the old one.

you mean that overweight, overpriced, POS excuse for a compact sporty car that they sell now? the new C-class will probably be more of the same.

Rear undisguised

Seen here for the first time testing with less disguising than we?ve ever snapped it before, is the new 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class ? and we even have shots of the car?s tail without any disguising at all.

Expect official unveiling at Geneva 2007 with sales starting shortly after. Also expect the wagon to arrive 6 months later in the autumn. Our sources state a cabriolet soft-top and coupe are also planned which we can only interpret as being the new CLK-Class, which is also based on the same platform.

Although it will share more of its components than before with the larger E-Class, the next C will be much sharper to drive and more distinctive as a range in its own right: Mercedes-Benz is to position it as a true small sports saloon, rather than simply a smaller answer to the E.

Air suspension or active body control have been ruled out due to cost restraints. Base engine will be a direct injection 4-cylinder 1.8-litre with varying horsepower from 150 to 190. Horsepower for the 2.5- and 3.5-litre V6 will be 210 to 270 respectively. AMG's 5.4-litre will be revised with new horsepower rating up from today's 360 to 400-410bhp to compete with the Audi RS4 and future BMW M3. Also a 3.0-litre diesel is planned as well as the new iDrive-like operating concept found in the new S-Class. 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system will also remain available as well.

Looks fairly nice for a C-Class, especially since the current model is getting old and very common. It's got a boxy ol' school shape to it which should sit well when AMG get their hands on it and attach their bodykit and slot the 6.2L V8 into it.

The front lights (you can see in the reflection) are really nice! Looks like they pulled them off the new CL.

And it's gotten the E-Class panoramic sunroof which my parents have on their car and it great!

Looks good. Rear's a bit stumpy, but the S-Class's cues work surprisingly well on here. Headlight shape is good (first person to say it looks like an Astra gets a baseball bat to the scrotal region).

I know its being picky, but that rear door handle looks like it was thrown on by someone with their other arm. It needs to be a bit further back

Doesn't look too bad - but it doesn't jump out at me as a truely good looking car, just an inoffensive one.

I think Mercedes has taken the concept of armored cars a bit to seriously...

^ It's not armoured - it's designed to meet the new EU pedestriation safety regs

Me waits for SL65AMGWTFOMG.....!!! to post about the AMG motor...

theres a car under there? :? :bangin:

How can you test a car with all that crap on it...I really dunno what to comment about the looks of it...lol!

It's just to cover up the final shape/lines of the car :p

Yeah, I was just kidding.......but those holes on the car body do look like bullet holes made by Arnold Schwartzenneger in Terminator 4 or something

They're speed holes, they make the car go faster

When I asked a Merc Engineer about a similar camo on a Merc S Class Prototype, the Mercedes Benz Sound Vehicle at Stuttgart, he said its simply a button on body kit to keep spy photographers guessing.
