(though whoever put those wings on the GT-R & 240Z needs a good talking-to)
 
I must agree although both are able to car enough speed for them to do some good. For the record I did still refur to them as towel racks for the duration of the event.
 
the race has a misleading title don't you think? from the looks of the photos, there is nothing rally-ish or GP-ish about the whole thing. the evos and that elise look sweet though!

Is this that Toyota Camry engined thing that was at the Melbourne Motorshow ages ago?
I recon I saw that a few years back sitting in a workshop in Moorabin.
 
I'm sorry if the title is misleading but the event is called the "2006 Grand Prix Rally", so thats why kinda why I wrote that. Its a 4 day tarmac only rally with some tough navigation leading to closed speed events. So what else do you call it other than a rally, and it was run in conjunction with the organisers of the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix as a support event. As for DECA thats just a closed driving facility, and a damn good one at that. Any place that has a skid pan big enough for B Double Trucks, is a place I want to visit.

Yeah that open roadster is the one and only prototype. The concept was to create a one make series with this car based on the 4 cyl Camry. The project fell through and the prototype was sold off. David then bought this car with the intent on using it in tarmac rallies, after the hell of trying to register it over a few years, and meeting all ADR's it now has full registration. Its a great car and handle like on rails, it's always good to see David giving it stick as the damn thing just flys. :thumbsup:
 
^ I saw that, and thought "I hope that smoke's not coming from his exhaust, because it sure isn't coming from that tire..." :lol:
 
It was a turbo that had let go. This happened at the beginning of day 3, it only smoked under heavy acceleration and only had a small power loss. When some of the guys asked him about it he just shrugged and said "we either finish or we don't, I hope its the first one." For the record he finished top 5 overall.
