[Spy] 2006 Holden VE Commodore

Yes. It's rumored to be appearing in the 2007 HSV GTS.

I was chatting today to one of my Holden contacts I've stayed in touch with - apparently those most recent photos were taken from a light plane flown over the proving ground. Holden were able to track down the pilot and now know who hired him - the pilot copped a charge of flying low over a built-up area.

  But they got some good shots and I'm sure the pilot was paid a princely sum too.

I rekon the front looks dead-set hot  They got the design bang on right for the SS, especially that racey bodykit  The only concern (which I personally don't care about) is the similarities between the VE and the BA which should get people talking undoughtably.

Also...pics of the new Statesman:

The new Statesman is quite meh...in fact worse... it bah! It looks quite ugly and American in these photos but I couldn't care less seeing as us Aussies all know what the rough average age of a Statesman driver is  Like a 104

I've never seen this pic till I went back the pages to look for the pictures flyingfridge was talking about, does anyone else think the new commodore looks very short?

In those pictures the front of the SS looks a little short, kind of like an Astra, but I thin it is because of the angle and the fact that there is nothing to reference the size.

I think it looks if anything a bit longer than the current model - the wheelbase looks to have had a major stretch, so the wheels have been pushed out closer to the extremities - particularly at the front, perhaps that's what's making it appear smaller to some peope.

i think it looks shorter because the styling is chunkier

The fenders look agressively flared compared too the VZ. It could mean the car is slightly narrower then past models or has a wider track.

Some more clearer, close-up shots of the SS

I can't put my finger on it. The car looks smaller. Is it a shorter front bonnet or is it the front wheels being closer to the front fender. I dunno...just looks smaller, a bit.

Pics of a Statesman or Calais?

SPOTTED IT!!!!!

I saw a Red SS on the way to work today, near the Swan Street Bridge for all you Melbournites. It doesn't look any bigger than a VZ, but it looks wider and chunkier. Very nice indeed, unfortunately, I was driving at the time so I couldn't snap any shots.

But

How does he drive it with that cover over the wheel?

It looks to short to be the Caprice, but it does have the DVD screens in the headrests. Maybe they are puting these in the Calais? Previously if you have a DVD player in the Calais it is a roof mounted flip down number.

It has the extended window thing that looks like something from an audi, so it's a Long wheel base. Not a calias, it's a Statesman/Caprice.

More piccies from LS1.

EDIT: Same thing came up on LS1 (Nasty dude), so there's something wrong there

Yeah, that is the Statesman/Caprice. Now that I look at it you can see the "eye" (like the 5 series) headlight under the coverings.

I love that they put the baby seat in the back to test it out. :p

Picking up some Fish & Chips for dinner and guess what drives out of a local car park and right past me... didn't get too good a look at it as it was night-time, but believe me guys it's a big car. If anything it actually looks larger in the metal than the current shape due to the longer wheelbase and longer glasshouse / wider C-pillar.

It headed down a side street so I might go have a look around the area tommorow and see if the guy's foolish enough to leave it parked outside.

That's two of us who've seen them out and about now... they're certainly spending a LOT of time getting this thing right...

Oh oh oh!!!!!

I saw one being totally caned along Warragul Road tonight. Had the four exhaust pipes, nice red. It does look very big, perhaps it's just the lengthened wheelbase playing tricks.

Can't wait to see it naked. Get a  from me for now!
