Even celebrated marques screw up occasionally. Ferrari has the Mondial. Lamborghini has the Jalpa. Porsche has the 928. These cars are ugly, but no nation has released more unsightly cars than the U.S.
The 928 is no "screw up", it's a gorgeous car. If you had said 914 or even 924, I could have nodded in agreement, but the 928 was a gorgeous Porsche car, what's not to like?

Well, I have to make a token effort to stick up for the Pontiac Firebird. I think the LS1 4th gens are gorgeous. That would be part of why I bought one.
You talk about "modern" design but spend a lot of time on 10 year old cars and bash '92 Saturns build quality... Pontiacs have dropped the hideous stuck-on body molding years ago... The Taurus went away a few years ago and was replaced by the bland blockish 500. I wouldn't own any of their current cars except the Solstace, which I think is also gorgeous. Most American designs bore me to death (Ford and GM alike), I like some of Chrysler's designs.
I spent a week with a Mudstain, er, Mustang, in Hawaii, and the design was just way too retro (including the unreadable retro gauges). Even saw a GT-H at the Hotel. Meh. I wouldn't own one.
I'd add all Chinese cars to the list, but that'd be sticking the knife in, and they're only getting a start. Despite that, they've also produced some lookers:

Theres no way that they are the ugliest car ever, they are in no way the prettiest car but they aren't ugly.

Monaros don't suck. New Astras are pretty nice looking and the others serve their purpose well. I would like to see you drive a Vauxhall Lotus Carlton into a tree if you had just been givin one. (Oh yeah and it would be 176mph not 75mph)
