To make it worse, it's 100% street legal !! wish we could get away with stuff like that over here

Freakin' awesome  Remove the stickers, and that's one hell of a sleeper.

Wouldn't want to have to change the sparkplugs though...

Its still a Focus :p But what a lil vehicle! It even has the original door lining inside it

Fuckin crazy Kiwi's.... And those lucky bastards can have that road legal

Respect 8)

Before you get too excited and run out to buy an FRPP engine for your focus, you should note that some re-engineering was at play. Not only did the engine bay require physical alterations to cope with the 5.0-litre V8, a bespoke exhaust system was fabricated as well. Going further down the chassis, the drivetrain feeds power to the rear wheels via a an all new FRPP five-speed racing gearbox. Finally, the development team created a new suspension set-up for both front and rear wheels to allow the car to handle the massive increase in power and weight.

In America, the engine and drivetrain package will cost interested customers nearly $14,000. (this doesn't include a host of other modifications). Overall, it doesn't look like buyers will be getting a Focus V8 any time soon, even though sporty concepts such as the Focus Cosworth were well received. A spokeswoman for the blue oval was lukewarm on the possibility of the RS8 coming to these shores. "Next year we will introduce the new Focus, but I just don't think there would be a market for a V8 version. The majority of people want to buy economical cars, not pay an extra #9,000 for a bigger engine," she said

You like the one that's older and slower, with less power? And it has a LIVE REAR AXLE! Oh yes, I said it. :p
It's not difficult to get those 5.0L engines to put out some enormous power. As for the rear end, you could substitute it with a Cobra IRS.

Those 4ltr inline 6's are getting over 1300hp here in Australia, Australia and New Zealand are the only two country's that get them though.

Forced induction is fun, though you can turbocharge the Mustang engines as well for assloads of power. I've seen street legal ~1,500rwhp Mustangs running turbo setups, and you can bet they're putting out a hell of a lot more torque than the 6s do.

Not taking anything away from the I6, just saying.

Here's a 1200+ rwhp one that started out as a 5.0L, and is running 13psi to achieve it versus the 13psi needed to get the I6 up to 500rwhp -

And you can gurantee all these engines will be as reliable as a chocolate teapot.

They're making over 5 times their original power, there has to be some concessions along the way. Providing you're not running at the limit constantly though, it shouldn't be terribly unreliable. Lovely thing about turbos, you can just turn down the boost and run way below what the engine is capable of handling.

You'd be suprised. A local Calgarian turbocharged his stock-bottom-end 5.0L Mustang and ran it at just over 600 RWHP for nearly two years without any issues. Those engines are damn near bulletproof if you tune them correctly.
