Odd automotive defects you have found...

That story has officially made me want to get a volvo brick.
 
I did a pre-delivery inspection on a Kia Cerato a few months ago that wouldn't select any gear than reverse. The problem turned out to be a small 50c steel pin which holds the shift cables in had fallen out somewhere between korea and australia, or just not fitted at all, and didn't allow the cable enough travel to move the selector fork on the gearbox. But reverse still worked, which was a bit weird.

Also had a Kia (see a pattern forming?) Grand Carnival (or Sedona) with a really bad miss. We ended up throwing a new ecu, wiring loom, knock sensors, re-built the heads, fiddled with the timing and even threw a new short block at it and it still misses like a diahatsu charade with a plug lead missing. Its still parked in the workshop after 6 months, and Kia have no factory tech support.
