So after a week of ownership I finally finished all my exams and got to take some pictures of my new car. The lease was up on my RSX and it wasn't the best financial decision to buy it back.

It's a 2007 RWD in pearl white with black interior. It's got the sport package which gives you pretty much all the luxury goodies like heated/ventilated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps... and of course the keyless entry system is standard on all Lexi (plural).

The RSX was a good car but this is just on a whole different planet it seems. I always catch myself going 40 above the limit on the highway, just because the IS is so quiet and sturdy. The engine on it is pretty good and puts out 206hp and I think around 175 lb ft. of torque. It's definitely got some power... nothing spectacular but it's great fun overtaking on the highway and I must say, makes a great noise for a V6 of this size.

Alright, here she is. It was detailed when I picked it up but it rained pretty much every day between the day I got it and yesterday when I snapped these pics, so she's pretty dirty:

And a clip of the startup sequence... so far as I can figure out it's mostly for looks but, hey, it does look pretty cool:

The IS is by far my favorite compact executive cars. ice car :)

White ? Why the hell is it white ? The IS is one of my favourite cars around and it looks good in almost any color you can get it in. But white ? Doesn't work. Blue, red, gold, silver etc. yes. But white....oh maaaaaan. Still....fantastic choise, so I can't exactly blame you, so I'll forgive you for now and trust that it looks really good parked next to your house in the sunny surroundings of British Columbia :)

I love white cars....and chicks.

Heh, it seems the start up is familiar to my Legacy, but ya its pretty awesome.

How much did the 250 cost? It seems a lot more then an RSX.

Why not manual? Regardless, it's probably the only Lexus I would buy.

Nice choice of car Shawn. ENjoy it!

beautiful car Shawn, i've always LOVED the IS series. My neighbor just got one too in the dark grey. Plus considering it is a toyota, nothing will ever go wrong. Great choice, congrats!

Great car! And yes, I am biased. I like white cars.

Great choice Shawn; looks great in white. And now I know where you live...ever had a stalker before? :p

What's the lease rate on the IS? I suppose I could just lift up my Globe and Mail to check, but I'm kinda lazy.

Thanks for all the comments. I love it and I'm sure it's going to give me a lot less trouble than a Merc or BMW would.

I also love white cars... I was gonna get the gunmetal gray but to be honest it just wasn't as nice. The IS is really angular and the angles show themselves most in white. Also if I got a dark colour I'd have to get beige leather (black wouldn't look as nice on a dark car) which would be a pain to clean.

There is a manual version, only on the RWD 250 though. I didn't really want a manual Lexus, it somehow seems pointless if you know what I mean. Plus you'd lose like half the cool toys if you got manual like the paddle shifters with power/snow button and tiltdown mirrors and stuff.

I didn't lease this one, learnt my lesson the hard way through my previous car. Although in researching this car I learnt that Lexus is one of the few companies where the more money you pay down, the lower the interest rate. With the money I put down, even though I financed, I could have leased the same car with 1.9 percent interest. Needless to say this is amazing considering other brands and Lexus w/o a down payment would have charged me more like 6 percent.

And finally, yes, it cost quite a bit more than an RSX but isn't that why it's called an upgrade? :p

A colleague of mine bought exactly the same car in silver.

He didn't get a manual because he likes paddle shifters.

Love the car, btw. If I was in the sport sedan market, I'd be down to this, a 3-series and an A4.

The thing is the BMW and Audi are quite a bit more expensive. I'd say the base prices are something like C$8,000 more than the Lexus... and running costs will probably be slightly more for the Germans.

Plus I think the IS looks really beautiful... BMWs look pretty bad nowadays, Audis look good but I hate the kidney-shaped interiors. The IS has such a great looking hood/bonnet, it's long and low and totally awesome. I love how it cuts down on the sides:

I got to play with an IS250 AWD for a day, and overall it gave me a very solid, sturdy feel. However, the IS is not for me because I had a hard time sitting comfortably in the driver's seat. The car looks big, but the interior space is quite tight; I guess my legs are just a bit long. Also, I think the engine is a bit underpowered, although it does make a beautiful noise when pressing on the gas real hard. Perhaps the 3.5L engine is better? All in all, a very good car. Enjoy!!

Yeah, I'm quite tall and I felt a bit tight in there but I got used to it after a week. I test drove a 350 as well, that thing was awesome.

Anyone else detect the irony in that statement? :tease:

Kiddin'. Great-looking car, and I hear you about the cool startup sequence. Our Legacy does that too, with the needles...I consider it a precursor for what's about to happen.

Yeah, weird thing about the sports pack. The thing is it gives you all the stuff from the 'premium' package plus sports suspension, metal pedals and I think different wheels.

Yes and a sweet upgrade :D

The sports package wheels look really good! Honestly, I dislike that colour on this car but meh...

Overall, the Lexus IS is a great car. For the money, it offers so much kit compared to the Germans and it looks pretty cool also. The quality is right up there as well.

A while ago, my bro sent his IS200 for service and got a white IS250 loan car and we loved it.

The keyless go and startup procedure was particularly nice and I like the instrument panel (climate control etc).

The sound system would be pretty good yeh? Lexus do nice systems...

Congrats
