Ok so i am going to do it.. A POLL THREAD!
I was chatting with my friend about American cars and we agreed for the most part a lot of todays American cars suck. But when we asked what brands we would support, we noticed we all had a certain American car we just had to support. I grew up in a Ford family, my father only owned cars by fords and for me they still hold a soft part and would say i am a Ford Guy. My other friend is GM Guy, no mater how good a Ford car would make GM was better.

So i thought, lets do a poll! So pick the American manufacture that you hold a soft spot for, or would considerer yourself a <Insert name of Big 3> Guy. And do discuss why you feel that way, i know a lot of the over seas guys might be confused so just sit back and watch.

Our family used to be a Ford guy back when being a "car company guy" meant something. We had a 1988 Taurus, but before that we were "Dodge guys" with a Colt hatchback. Yeah! We traded in the Taurus for a Chevy Lumina, so I guess I've been a GM guy ever since.

Probably because the Solstice makes my pants tight as well as the Z06. Ford nowadays is just plain retarded, and Chrysler never was huge like those guys and enjoys making dumb mistakes to cover up their occasional brilliant ideas (300C followed by Sebring, etc).

So, yeah. Nostalgia ftw.

GM, specifically Chevy. Mostly because of the Camaro's we owned when I was a kid, and my favorite car as a child was a '55 chevy, because my dad had a Gasser style 55 in the 60's.

This is also why I tend to focus more on the GM threads, and seem to defend the corvette a bit.

Ford just never did it for me, and for the passed 10 years I've been of the opinion that Chrysler products suck, and it was re-affirmed when I owned a 1990 Caravan with their first attempt at an electronic transmission, that i christened the "wonder gear." It's the transmission you'll always wonder "What gear will it go into next?"

As much as I'd like to rationalise a Chrysler pick by saying "Well MB owns them and and they're German... so that makes Chrysler German..." I just can't. I don't like their cars. It's obvious how I feel about GM.

So it has to be Ford, only because of the GT. No other reason.

Hah, sweet! My favorite car for the longest time was a 1957 Belair coupe, in bright arrest-me-red, with chrome dripping off every single possible corner and orifice. Never got into the 55s, but Tim Taylor had one on Home Improvement, my favorite show as a kid, so I rather like those more today. (Yeah, I was a messed up kid.)

When the C5 Corvette was unveiled in Popular Science (see what I mean about the messed up part?) I drooled over that for the next 3 years. So even though they're getting raped right now, the General all the way. 8)

MB owning Chrysler is another strike in my book.

I personally like Fords myself, Euro Fords especially. :p

Can I pick Saturn? At least they've got a vision, and that vision is stealing everything Vauxhall makes and putting a Saturn badge on it!

GM for me. My dad had an early '80s Cutlass when I was a kid, and i've liked G-Bodies my whole life. I've owned a bunch of GM stuff, the next car I get will probably have a 350 in it lol. This Toyota is alright, but i'm not used to spending so much on parts. For comparison; 3SGE rebuild kit=$580. 350=$260. Plus it's just what i'm used to working on lol.

Grown up in a Ford family used to be blue blooded until i was burnt by the Ford product. But out of the three, Ford all the way. I like the range of their vehicles better, the Mustang, the GT, the falcon range (in OZ), the Euro Fords, i mean they have a good selection of cars, just some of the quality isn't there.

Umm.. That is GM, Saturn is part of GM (so is Vauxhall).

The ZO6 and the Saturn Sky out weight the Dodge Magnum SRT8 (one of my all time favs) for me so i guess i have to go with GM.

Those are probably the only American Cars that i would buy(sorry no viper for me).

GM, easy... All you have to say is.... CHevelle, EL Camino, Camaro, Nova, Trans Am, GTX, GNX, GTO, need I go on?

I'm an officer in The General's Army.

I don't have a loyalty to any one brand, but if I had to I'd say I'm a GM guy. There is far more GM stuff on my wish list over Ford and Chrysler put together. Like a 68 Shelby GT500KR, 68 Dodge Charger, 70 Dodge Challenger. But on GM's side there is a 66 GTO, 69 Camaro SS with a 427, 70 Buick GSX, 57 Bel Air and Roadmaster and you get the idea.

My family has almost always bought GM stuff with the exception of the Ford Taurus that has been sitting in my driveway for the last few years. That is the reason why we don't buy fords.

My dad had GM stuff through most of his life I believe. Off the top of my head there was a monte carlo, chevy, olds, olds, buick, buick, buick (which is now mine).

My mom has had a pontiac, olds, olds cutlas, taurus.

My sister had one of my dad's old Buicks which she destroyed, my mom's cutlas which she destroyed, my mom's taurus and she is the reason why it hasn't run in a couple years, and now she's on to her own chevy which has one foot in the grave.

Seeing a pattern developing?

I had a Z28 in high school, and boy did I get a bad vibe from GM products with that car.

So I stick with what works best for us, and that would be ford.

My sister owned two Fords in the past (1987 Escort and 1990 Tempo); both were crap. But nowadays, the Euro Fords seem to be better than the American Fords, in terms of style and reliability (at least that's what I think). Otherwise, I would go for Cadillacs, which would mean I'm a GM guy. So yeah, when staying in Europe, I'd be a Ford guy; in North America, I'd be a GM guy.
