East Meets West In Corvette-Engined Honda Civic
LS1Tech.com member Civette happened to have a ?couple cars laying around? including a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1996 Honda Civic hatchback, and like any good gearhead with too much time on his hands, he wondered what would happen if he attempted to chop up both in his garage and create an LS1-engined banzai runner.

While most of us would let our imaginations run wild, but keep our cutting torches unlit, Civette has actually begun work on this unusual rear-drive hybrid. Vette purists needn?t spill too many tears?the donor car was totaled. In fact, the Civic was a $200 special as well, so at least the initial outlay for this Frankenstein-worthy project was minimal.

Civette informs that he originally purchased a 1993 Subaru Impreza wagon for his planned V-8 conversion madness, but it ran and he was able to flip it and make a few dollars.

This could well be the mother of all sleepers. We can?t wait to check out the finished product.

The Build newbie...with a ls1....but not in your typical car

yeah its awesome but this is a duplicate thread.

But yeah... id like to see how that thing goes...
can you imagine the sound that it could produce.... then you look over and its a little honda civic.

hes using the whole drive, suspension from the camaro.
if he manages to fit it nicely under the bonnet.... which he seems like he has done. it should drive ok.

Im not sure about the interior of the car though...

interesting project none the less.

Actually he is using the Corvette Drive train. From the engine to the right to the rear wheels, even the front suspension and steering rack. The Corvette he used has similar wheel base length to the Civic. Really just a Corvette with a Civic body on top. The whole thing only cost him $1000 so far. :p

Freakin. Awesome.

Must be nice to have the skills to build something like that.

If he can keep the exterior looking fairly stock, that'll be close to the ultimate sleeper.

Not original, but still fun to see. In NW Florida, the owner of the dragstrip near Crestview has a Civic with either a 350 or a 427, I forget which. Granted, I think his is strictly for the strip, where this one looks road going.

Talk about a sleeper...

I don't think this will be the ultimate sleeper, but bad ass none the less.

On Maguires web site of "customer rides" or some shit like that there is a guy with an 80's CRX with... a 468 cubic inch (4.5 liter) supercharged Oldsmobile engine mounted under the hatch. and still has the stock drivetrain up front to keep his fuel bill down.
