Your Post-Apocalyptic Ride?

Imagine the world as we know it ended a few years ago.
Civilization broke down, millions died from some unknown super-disease and the chaos and hunger that followed.
All the major cities are deserted. Settlements are few and far apart, connected by deserted roads. Bandits roam the land, surviving by robbing the few who are trying to rebuild the society by producing and trading.

There is an almost infinite supply of cars around on parking lots, car dealerships,
slowly rotting away in the sun, along with the corpses of their owners.

What would your ride be in this (mad-max-inspired) post-apocalyptic world?

Oil is no big deal. The United Sates has the world's largest Strategic Petroleum Reserve: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_Petroleum_Reserve

I'll just have to establish a new government near the gulf coast, keeping close guard. We will also need to hire engineers and scientists who can keep the oil platforms and the power plants afloat.

Anyway my two picks are Mercedes G-Guard G500 B7 and Wiesel 2 APC (I driven the Wiesel 1 a lot, agile, fuel efficient, VW TDI engine so easy to find spare parts).

And how would you extract the vegetable oil when mineral oil runs out?

Why would there be any problems extracting vegetable oil without mineral oil? You can even create Biodiesel from it without any mineral oil product.

Hmmm tough one I think I would go for a non motor driven ride, probably just go bareback on a lion, maybe a pride, hopefully get accepted into the pride, the forced rape by male lion every few days would be worth the security and food they would provide. A pride can even take down an Elephant, so I think I would be fairly safe against most things.

However, if the oil stops tomorrow, I'll get some old pots and pans, create a gas producer and run my car on anything that has carbon in it and burns. Deal with it Greenies! I ain't riding no damn bike.....
