When the 650 hp versions come out down the road even more children's college funds are going to dry up. And for the environmentalists we can try to put the Z06 engine into this:

So you can die just a bit faster.

I wondered what CSV had been up to!

The engine has only been run in-car on a chassis dyno, so its power output at the flywheel can only be approximated. But what comes out at the rear wheels is impressive enough -- there's 430 hp at the treads. So CSV is quoting what seems a conservative 536 hp at 6000rpm, 31hp more than the Z06 produces at 6400rpm. Peak torque is anyone's guess, but again Dichiera is quoting a conservative 486 lb-ft, or 16 lb-ft more than the Corvette version.

The same engine produces more power in the HSV than the Corvette...

The LS7 is hand built, so HP numbers can vary. There is also the chance that GM underrated the power, which they've been known to do.

The Z06 can also go over 200mph right off the dealer lot. But having an official top speed over 200mph will increase insurance rates, so...

That is amazing.

Its an M5 killer.

Man, I really can't wait to test drive one of these.

Nice power and Torque, but 0 - 100km is only .01 seconds faster then what they claim for the current 6.0 Litre HSVs and the 1/4 mile time is .4 faster then current spec GTS and Typhoons. Overtaking is also only .4 faster the current Typhoon as well.

Any idea on how much extra weight its hauling?

You could always drop a twin-screw on top....maybe....it might not fit under that cowl. Vortech anyone, or a Procharger?

Pretty much same exact car as the G8, but this one looks a lot uglier. I hate the back.. :(

According to Wheels magazine the extra power is due to this installation having a shorter intake duct vs the Z06.

Edit: Just checked the mag - they attribute it to both the intake and exhaust being better than the stock Z06 fitment.

It shouldn't really be heavier then the normal GTS. The only other major change is some suspension work. The drive line remains the same as standard as well as gearbox. The engine was mated with the 6 speed auto on that particular car.

Totally freakin' awesome. You do not fuck with this car.

Ahh, that makes sense.

Just goes to show how much power is locked away in these engines.

Good old CSV. Still making over-engined monsters after all these years. Yeehaa!!

No doubt its a 7 litre V8, people are getting 600 hp from N/A 5.0 litres pushrods, tuners and companys could be getting around 700hp without causing to much strain on the engines.

Half the time its the running gear thats gets a caining, put a Tremec T56 or the bulletproof Top Loaders and Holinger HS6's, with an racing spec clutch and a Ford 9" LSD at the back you be sweet for Torque over 500lb/ft.

that is just insane. i really want one of those! :woot: to bad they wont make it like that from the factory :p

 It really is a beauty of an engine. IIRC people where getting 650hp out of them with a nasty cam, headers and some tuning.
