seeing as most small mammals rely on their sense of smell over their sense of sight this isn't too shocking. I'm sure if you deleted peoples depth perception you would find a short term cure for fear of heights, but thats not really a advantage is it?
What would be interesting to see is what things are programmed into us that are actually very instinctive, and furthermore how flexible some of our hardwired instincts actually are.
